THE LANGHAM, HONG KONG, BRINGS JOY TO EVERYDAY HEROES

March 25, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

As part of the International Day of Happiness on 20 March, and The Langham, Hong Kong’s ‘Celebrate Our #EverydayHeroes’ campaign, the hotel delivered 125 sets of the brand’s signature afternoon tea sets to the staff working at COVID-19 testing around its neighbourhood in Kowloon.

The General Assembly of the United Nations in its resolution 66/281 of 12 July 2012 proclaimed 20 March, the International Day of Happiness “recognising the relevance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in the lives of human beings around the world”.

“Community testing centres across the city are working the hardest right now, and a little positivity and support will go a long way,” said Marcel Holman, managing director of The Langham, Hong Kong.

“Being in the hospitality industry of taking care of people, our team at The Langham, Hong Kong wants to do our part and show our support to healthcare professionals, who have been working tirelessly to keep local communities healthy and safe. The Langham hopes to bring smiles to healthcare workers at the COVID-19 testing centres, one sandwich at a time,” Holman added.

The Langham, Hong Kong team delivered sandwiches and pastries made by the hotel’s culinary team, and complimentary hotel dining vouchers at The Food Gallery to doctors, nurses, and staff across the six centres in Kowloon, complete with customised pink (synonymous with The Langham brand’s signature pink) surgical masks embossed with a smiley face, handwritten thank-you notes and well wishes from the hotel’s executive committee team.

According to Michael Kan, a representative on behalf of the Henry G Leong Yaumatei Community Centre, “Our medical staff face physical and mental strains daily and we really appreciate the support from others which motivate us to continue to stay focus on the task at hand. The medical teams thank The Langham, Hong Kong for their kindness, thoughtfulness and delicious afternoon tea treats.”
