With The New Clicquot Tape Limited Edition, Veuve Clicquot Is So “Retro, Chic!”

September 10, 2020 by StrawberrY Gal

This season, Veuve Clicquot is not only going retro, it’s going “Retro, Chic!”, a celebration of the House’s prevailing love of beautiful objects. And which beautiful object is more “retro chic” than the audiocassette tape? That iconic throwback to the ‘70s and ‘80s has inspired the new Clicquot Tape limited edition, a collection of six bold and eye-catching retro designs featuring the House’s iconic yellow, as well as disco, iridescent and zebra motifs. Made exclusively to showcase the iconic Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label cuvée, each box is a colourful nod to the cassette tape of yesteryear.

In its heyday, the cassette tape represented much more than just a technological advancement; for example, a mix tape was a powerful vector for emotion, a form of personal expression. It was about recording and sharing memories. This notion is what drives the new Clicquot Tape – with a single glance, it evokes these joyful emotions.

THE MIX TAPE, THE ULTIMATE PERSONAL GIFT

The carefully chosen songs, the precise order in which they were recorded, a voice recording to introduce it all… in the 1980’s, a mix tape was the ultimate personal gift. Full of meaning, it was the physical symbol of a shared memory and of the bond between the person giving the mix tape and the person receiving it.

Today with the Clicquot Yellow Tape, at select points of sale, you can express yourself in a similar way by adding a personal message, inspired by iconic song lyrics. Whatever the occasion – a get-together with friends, a birthday, a wedding, a holiday, a voyage or any other champagne moment – you can evoke a shared memory, an inside joke, or simply let them know how much you care. Browse from among 300 gifting messages or type your own on a retro typewriter. The personalised label is in the shape of authentic mixtape labels!

CLICQUOT TAPE: RETRO BY DESIGN

To pay homage to the retro icon the cassette tape, Veuve Clicquot has paid careful attention to each design detail in the Clicquot Tape, from the tiny screws in the shape of the House’s symbolic comet, to the wheels that turn like a real cassette tape.

The Clicquot Tape limited edition also features 100% recyclable packaging. The interior form which holds the bottle in place is made from 100% sustainable pulp material and is easy to remove, allowing you to keep the box at home or recycle it. This also means the Clicquot Tape box can have a second life, much like cassette tapes on which one could record and endlessly re-record.

VEUVE CLICQUOT: “RETRO, CHIC!”

The Clicquot Tape limited edition is an essential part of Veuve Clicquot’s Retro, Chic! inspiration this season. Why retro? It was Madame Clicquot who once said, “Our wines must be flattering both on the palate and on the eye.” This conviction drives the House to consistently marry beauty with utility, and to create objects that spark aesthetic, joyful and positive emotions at the mere sight of our bottles. In a world that is virtual and frenetic, this appreciation of beautiful objects is a truly universal movement. For Veuve Clicquot, retro is about celebrating the desire to live in a world that has a memory, about elevating objects which have a story – and which remind us of our own, and ultimately about finding meaning.

The Clicquot Tape limited edition is available at participating outlets in Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer, B.I.G as well as online retailer, Boozeat.com.
