The Funky Bar Goes Japanese

September 16, 2020 by StrawberrY Gal

After making an impressive debut in July with a month-long Mojito celebration, SOULed OUT’s new concept Funky Bar transforms yet again, bringing patrons a brand-new look, taste and feel every Thursday through Saturday. Themed SO Izakaya from September 3rd to October 31st, 2020, this time round, drinkers will be transported to the land of the Rising Sun.

In collaboration with Luen Heng F&B Sdn Bhd, a leading supplier of international beer, wine and spirit brands and led by Ms. Chiharu Yabe, Head of Luen Heng’s Japanese Division, SO Izakaya will present a premium selection of Sake and Shochu produced by some of the finest independent boutique Sake Brewers in Japan. Patrons will have the opportunity to sample a variety of this popular spirit including Koikawa, Asahigiku, Komagura and premium Shochu under the name Asahi and Morinokura. For those who love the crisp bold taste of a freshly tapped Sake, there will also be Sake on draught.

If one is new to Japanese alcohol, they can always start their discovery process by stimulating their palates with exclusive cocktails curated by famed bar maestro Shawn Chong together with Chiharu. With years of experience under his bar mixers, Shawn has concocted four different Sake and Shochu beverages; Benten Colada, Mori at the Beach, Miruku Mojito and Aoi Hawaii. He has also trained SOULed OUT’s barmen in the art of serving Sake and given them the knowledge to become Sake samurais to ensure patrons are served only the best experience.

Beam Suntory also joins the Japanese march, offering Roku Gin, Haku Vodka, and Chita Whiskey, a single grain whisky adored for its subtle notes of mint, honey and wood spice – all from the famed House of Suntory line.

Decked out with Japanese pop-culture stylings, SO Izakaya complements the variety of drinks, with a limited-edition Japanese contemporary menu. The tapas styled bar snacks has been put together to enhance the flavour profiles of Sake and Shochu and will feature seafood specials both raw and cooked, in proper Japanese fashion. Have your pick of Robatayaki, Rolls and even Tempura. The visual presentation of fresh ingredients prepared in a manner which brings out the truest flavours is guaranteed to appeal to the eyes as well as to the palate.

No matter where you stand on the F&B scale, SOULed OUT’s latest Funky Bar offering is bound to introduce you to new styles of enjoying Japan’s fresh and delicate flavours. Whether it’s hot or cold Sake that rocks your boat, or Shochu on the rocks, diluted with water, with soda, or mixed with Japanese tea is your poison, SO Izakaya is geared to captivate your senses.
