Hotel Alexandra – The Aureate Zongzi

Opening this year, the new Hotel Alexandra is excited to unlock its’ first delectable curation, the intricately crafted The Aureate Zongzi (Rice Dumpling) in celebration of one of the most recognised festivals in the Chinese Lunar calendar, The Dragon Boat Festival.

Meticulously crafted with the finest, most succulent ingredients, the chefs aim to tantalise and refresh your palate all the while keeping traditions and customs alive. Moulded in the form of an invaluable block of gold and emblazoned with edible gold leaf, the rice dumpling is a tangible representation of the Aureate themed hotel for guests to take home.

This luxurious version of the staple lunar dish contains an impressive array of delicacies which include premium Glutinous Rice, South African Abalone, Hokkaido Dried Scallops, 24-month Ibérico Ham, luscious Pork Belly, Sea Cucumber, Sakura Ebi, Shimeji Mushroom, and Salted Egg Yolk. Further enriched with highlights of Golden Chestnut, Mung Beans, and Red Dates add fibrous nourishment to this traditional delight. Wrapped in Bamboo Leaf to steam, all flavours are infused together for a fine gastronomic experience. The visually stunning sumptuous and flavourful 628 gram
gilded rice dumpling is good to share for up to three people. Priced at HK$338, the rice dumpling is best served steaming hot and accompanied by a fresh brew of tea.

In addition, The Aureate Zongzi is complimented with a fine selection of luxury artisanal tea from world renowned Tea WG 1837, internationally recognised as a true innovator with the creation of new varieties of blends every season. The rice dumpling and tea are presented in a custom made imperial-designed gift box set, to be shared or gifted amongst family members, friends, colleagues and business partners.
