Authentic family recipes during Ramadan!

May 9, 2020 by StrawberrY Gal

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) is celebrating the month of Ramadan with fellow Malaysians in a very different way this year, by sharing the recipes of some of its signature dishes from its ‘Memoirs of Ramadan’ buka puasa offering on its website and social media channels. The Centre’s intention is to bring back the joy and thrill of breaking fast through traditional home-made delicacies.

The Centre’s Executive Chef, Hisham Jaafar said, “We would like to wish all Malaysian Muslims a very blessed and safe Ramadan month. Ramadan has always been a very communal religious observation and every year, we looked forward to welcoming thousands of guests to observe the breaking of fast with our famed Ramadan buffet spreads. This year despite the circumstances, we decided to continue that tradition by sharing our ‘Authentic Family Recipes’.”

These authentic Ramadan homemade favourites include Chef Bahar’s sup tulang rawan kicap bersama sambal cili padi, Chef Asri’s gulai pedas chili api udang bersama nangka muda; Chef Rezal’s daging gulai kawah; and Chef Imran’s daging masak hitam.

Chef Hisham continued, “Our creative culinary team have specially created these signature dishes from traditional recipes passed down from generation to generation. Each recipe comes with its own nostalgic story that every Malaysian can relate to from their own memories of Ramadan. It is truly a journey through time encapsulated through sensory experiences, sharing and story-telling.”

“The sharing of these recipes enables us to reach out to our community of clients, colleagues, visitors and stakeholders during this unprecedented and challenging period. We hope that Malaysians love these recipes as much as our Chefs do and that they provide some inspiration for people to create their own versions and special memories. We also hope it lift spirits and helps fellow Malaysians remain resilient, strong and happy in the true Ramadan spirit,” he concluded.
