KRR Celebrates the Life & Legacy of Kenny Rogers

March 24, 2020 by StrawberrY Gal

Kenny Rogers, iconic country singer and founder of the Kenny Rogers ROASTERS chain of restaurants has passed away peacefully from natural causes recently, surrounded by his family.

The famed Country and Western singer Kenny Rogers, rose to greater heights in the 1980s; becoming a pop-music crossover star with hits like ‘Lady’ with Lionel Richie and ‘Islands in the Stream’ with Dolly Parton. These legendary tunes can still be heard on Malaysian airwaves today.

The husky-voiced singer, who was a man of many talents famously said, “People know I like to sing. What they don’t know is I like to cook or better yet, enjoy good food.”

Kenny Rogers ROASTERS (KRR) was originally set up by, Kenny Rogers, and former Governor of the state of Kentucky, John Y Brown Jr. Seeing an opportunity to provide healthy and delicious food in a restaurant environment, Kenny Rogers ROASTERS opened its first restaurant in Coral Spring, Florida in 1991.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Kenny Rogers, our beloved founder. We at KRR are honoured to be part of his legacy. We celebrate his life by continuing to do what we do best; serving up delicious meals and experience that KRR is known for in Malaysia and beyond,” said Kennie Thong, Senior Marketing Manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd.

KRR took Malaysia by storm when it first opened in Kuala Lumpur, back in 1994. The restaurant’s mid-casual dining concept featuring its irresistible and succulent rotisserie roasted chicken, complemented by a wide variety of hot and cold side dishes. This is made up home-made muffins, vegetable salads, pasta, soups, desserts and beverages served in a friendly and comfortable environment. This proves to be a winning recipe with Malaysians who enjoy its sumptuous food and wholesome experience.

“Today, KRR’s brand positioning of being “Deliciously Healthy” resonates with our guests who are looking for a meal that is both healthy and delicious, plus a great dining experience on top of that,” added Thong.

KRR as a brand has kept up with the trend to diversify its food offerings to suit the modern Malaysian palate. This includes a variety of seasonal flavours such as the recent Seoul Sedap Chikin, Garlic Butter Chicken, Creamy i-Yam meal and many more.
