The Shanghai EDITION Unveils Calendar of Decadent Festive Offerings

December 13, 2019 By StrawberrY Gal - Uncategorized Leave a Comment

To celebrate the wondrous festive season, The Shanghai EDITION is pleased to unveil a calendar of indulgent festivities and experiences. Staying true to The EDITION Hotels’ vision of celebrated modern luxury, the hotel collaborates with visionaries, celebrity chefs and emerging contemporary artists to present a series of extraordinary experiences for guests. The Shanghai EDITION’s holiday season reveals chapters of exhilarating events, integrated with exceptional arts, exclusive culinary offerings and entertainment.

A Festive Spectacle: Christmas Tree Art Installation

An ardent supporter of the local art scene, The Shanghai EDITION is a gathering place for the city’s finest contemporary art and creative talents. This year, emerging contemporary artist Yanyan Huang has been invited to create an original, avant-garde Christmas tree display to grace The Shanghai EDITION’s Urban Lobby from December 9 and onwards. The visual spectacle takes inspiration from Huang’s renowned “Knowing Seasons” series exhibited at Frieze New York: Printed silk drapes, an icon of the artist’s work, is veiled over the Christmas tree, complete with decorative lighting ornaments and an elegant silk-wrapped tree topper. Each segment of the silk features her dynamic, calligraphy-like painting style – a striking design illustrated by the vibrant contrast of bold brushstrokes against the delicate silk. A Sichuan native who studied art in the United States, Yanyan is based between the creative hubs of Beijing, New York, and California. Influenced by a wide span of cultures, her works exhibit a distinctive East-meets-West flair, blending cultures and history in colorful, expressive compositions.

“World Gourmet Tour” by Michelin-Starred Jason Atherton

From December 16 to 18, Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton once again takes the helm at The Shanghai EDITION, presenting his culinary magic with a three-day “World Gourmet Tour”. Featuring a one-day-exclusive menu each day, Jason’s curated dining journey draws inspiration from his renowned overseas restaurants, incorporating classic dishes and concoctions from Berners Tavern at The London EDITION and The Clocktower at The New York EDITION. Jason will also collaborate with Alex Craciun, Executive Head Chef of Sosharu in London, for a Tokyo disco-themed dinner.

First to kick off on December 16 is London’s Berners Tavern-themed dinner at Shanghai Tavern*, featuring traditional 18th century British flavors alongside a range of seasonal cocktails. On December 17, Jason collaborates with Alex Cracuin at HIYA for a Tokyo disco-themed dinner, showcasing Sosharu’s decadent Japanese classics with a local twist. A celebratory three-course dinner from The Clocktower, New York*, will see skillful reinterpretations of classical English fanfare at Shanghai Tavern on December 18. Combined with a modern American twist and a festive spin, Jason is set to offer guests an unforgettable gastronomic delight.

*Available at RMB 438 per person.

“The Five”: Punch Room’s Newest Menu

The Shanghai EDITION will also welcome the inaugural edition of “The Five”, the widely popular cocktail menu first created by Davide Segat, Bar Director of Punch Room at The London EDITION, and his ensemble of mixologists. Inspired by a bartender’s journey through Shanghai, the newest seasonal menu, aptly named “The Five: Winter”, features creative, soulful concoctions made with five essential ingredients used in traditional Punch-making. In celebration of the winter solstice, the menu will be launched on December 21 to warm the festive spirits.

Festive Feasts and Treats

No celebration is complete without a feast. Starting from December 24, Shanghai Tavern, Canton Disco, and HIYA will launch seasonal festive menus to complete the Christmas and New Year holidays with scrumptious treats. On New Year’s Eve, guests will be able to celebrate and welcome the year of 2020 with exciting countdown parties at The Shanghai EDITION. The festive fun continues the next day with a lively brunch at Shanghai Tavern, kicking off the New Year on a fulfilling note.
