International Coffee Day is a global celebration of the journey of coffee from the farm to local restaurants across the world. It is an occasion to honour the farmers who grow and harvest coffee in various parts of the world, as well as to promote fair trade coffee. Many countries around the world celebrate their own national coffee days at various dates throughout the year. However, in March 2014, the member states of the International Coffee Organization agreed to organize International Coffee Day on October 1 each year to create a single day of celebration for coffee lovers around the world, leading to the launch of International Coffee Day in Milan on 1 October 2015.
