Expo 2020 Dubai: 192 Nations Participate at The World’s Greatest Show

Five years after Milan hosted the last Expo, it is Dubai’s turn to host the six-month-mega-event. With the theme, Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, Expo 2020 Dubai will be will be held from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Expo 2020 will be the first World Expo to take place in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region in its 168 years of World Expo’s history. Expo 2020 is set to welcome more than 190 participating countries and 25 millions of visitors from across the globe – 70% of the visitor’s profile will be international. The theme is an expression of the belief that innovation and progress are the result of people and ideas coming together in original and unique ways.

“Expo 2020 will bring together the best of architecture, design, innovation and technology from the participating countries offer 60 spectacular live events daily and provide over 200 unique dining experience at the World’s Greatest Show. Visitors will have a ‘once in a life time’ opportunity to experience the best of the world in once place, said Sumathi Ramanathan, Director, Destination Marketing Expo 2020.”

During the six-month event, countries will showcase engaging content around the subthemes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.  The 4.38 sq. km site will host a wide range of pavilions built by the some of the world’s biggest architects including Santiago Calatrava, Foster and Partners, Grimshaw Architects to name a few. Visitors will be able to see sustainable solutions for future cities to the latest advancement in mobility including space mission to Mars and explore human progress and ingenuity.

In addition to the immersive exhibitions and engagement with the country pavilions, visitors can also partake in over 60 live events that will take place on-site daily. A wide range programme calendar promises everything from large scale music festivals and celebrity concerts to more intimate performances featuring ballet, jazz, opera and many other forms of cultural and artistic events. For the business or corporate visitors, extensive business programming including workshops, seminars, forums and events featuring leaders in the respective fields and topics related to the sub themes will be held.

Expo 2020 will also feature the world’s best dining in one location. Over 200 dining options featuring something for every budget will be available for the visitors. From food trucks to grab and go, casual bistros and fine dining establishments, visitors will be able to experience more than 50 cuisines from around the world and also see how technology will change the way we prepare and order food.

Expo 2020 will run for six months from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021. It will be open seven days a week, from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 a.m on weekdays and 10:00 a.m to 2:00 a.m on weekends and special days. One-day admission ticket is AED120 (MYR138) and a three-day admission ticket will cost AED260 (MYR300). Admission is free for children up to the age of 5, adults above 65 years and people of determination.
