Malaysians Celebrate Their Love for Mi MAGGI® Goreng

September 9, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

In the lead-up to Malaysia Day and as part of the #MAGGIgorengMYstail campaign, Malaysians from all walks of life sent in their best Mi MAGGI® Goreng recipes from across the country, demonstrating the popular noodles usually served as Mi Soup taste just as good as Mi Goreng!

With more than 760 recipe entries received by MAGGI® within only 5 weeks, many unique to the taste preferences of different states, ten contestants were selected to participate in the cook-off held at MyTOWN Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur, where the nation’s top three homestyle Mi MAGGI® Goreng dishes were crowned today.

Present at the event, Mr. Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, said, “It is inspiring to see how MAGGI® brings Malaysians together in their adoration for the simple, tasty noodles which are an undeniable Malaysian favourite. The ease of cooking with MAGGI® 2-Minute Noodles combined with the skills of home cooks have resulted in amazing creations. This campaign is also aligned with our corporate direction to encourage good cooking habits such as using fresh ingredients as well as taste and balance in cooking.”

The MAGGI® 2-Minute Noodles challenge saw Malaysians transforming the different flavours including Curry, Chicken Tomyam, and Assam Laksa into mouth-watering tasty and wholesome Mi MAGGI® Goreng, and enhanced with their preferred fresh ingredients to create personalised family favourites.

Ms. Geetha Balakrishna, Business Executive Officer, MAGGI, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, said, “Today we were inspired to see how home cooks from different regions can reinvent the Mi Soup into Mi Goreng dishes worthy of a cook book. With imagination and MAGGI® 2-Minute Noodles, Malaysians have unleashed their passion to share with us some of the best Mi Goreng dishes in the country, done in three easy steps: rebus, rencah, goreng. This campaign is also part of our commitment to encourage consumers to prepare more homemade meals at home.”

She added, “MAGGI 2-Minute Noodles Soup is not just superior in taste and aroma, it is versatile! The springy noodles can be adapted for a soup or goreng dish, thereby catering to a wide variety of taste and can be eaten at any time of day.”

The final cook-off was judged by Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, Mr. Juan Aranols, Business Executive Officer, MAGGI, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, Ms. Geetha Balakrishna, MAGGI® Noodles ambassador Sheila Rusly and Nestlé Malaysia’s Corporate Chef, Abdul Muluk.

Sheila said, “Today I discovered how MAGGI® brings out the heart in cooking. There was so much passion shown, with the dishes presented before the judges not just delicious, but proudly Malaysian. I hope they inspire others to recreate these easy, one-of-a-kind Mi MAGGI® Goreng creations at home or even to try creating something entirely new.”

The #MAGGIgorengMYstail roadshow event takes place at MyTOWN Shopping Centre on the September 6th, 7th and 8th 2019 where consumers can experience Mi MAGGI® Goreng from seven different states in Malaysia including Mi MAGGI® Goreng Kerabu Seafood from Kelantan, Mi MAGGI® Goreng Banjir Muar from Johor and Mi MAGGI® Goreng Ayam Tuhau from Sabah, and many more. There will also be other fun activities such as cooking competitions and performances.

The champion of the Raja Ratu Mi MAGGI® Goreng Malaysia title walked away with shopping vouchers worth RM3000 and a MAGGI® hamper. The second and third prize winners won shopping vouchers valued at RM2000 and RM1000 respectively as well as a MAGGI® hamper each.
