GrabFood Unveils The Top Ice Cream Trends for International Ice Cream Day!

July 25, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

If there’s one thing about living in Malaysia we can all agree on, is that it’s hot and humid, almost all year long! With annual heat waves being a common occurrence, it’s no wonder that Malaysians choose to chill and cool down with ice cream.

In conjunction with International Ice Cream Day on July 21,(yes there is such a thing!) what better way to commemorate the occasion than by looking back at some cool facts about how our customers enjoy their love for ice cream with GrabFood.

We love ice cream at all hours of the day – even late at night!
It’s no secret that Malaysia has a booming supper culture, but it also seems like our customers also like satisfying their sweet tooth before bedtime! Ice cream ranked as one of the top three most ordered items on GrabFood for late night snacking with McDonald’s Oreo McFlurry as the dessert of choice.

Ice cream for any celebration
Ice cream cakes are already a popular alternative for celebrations and with food delivery fast becoming an integral part of our lives, ordering your ice cream cakes for any celebration is so much easier. And trending with unconventional flavors are Bombe Alaska from Baskin Robbins, Matcha Chestnut Cake from Kind Kones and Kek Onde from Inside Scoop.

3. Ice cream party anyone?
There’s no telling what one’s cravings might make a person do, but one GrabFoodie ordered 25 pints worth (RM790 worth) of ice cream in a single order from Baskin Robbins – that’s approximately 100 scoops of ice cream (think massive brain freeze)! But we are almost certain it was for an office celebration since it was delivered to an office address on May 2nd, the day after Labour Day. We certainly hope they enjoyed their ice cream feast!

We love all things chocolate!
The great battle of the flavours have finally been resolved! Between Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate, Chocolate is clearly the front runner, and no one does chocolate based flavours best unlike household name, Baskin Robbins. With their wide variety of chocolate flavours, some of the most preferred flavours include Jamoca Almond Fudge, Chocolate Mousse Royale and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

The quirkier the flavour, the more we love it!
But it’s not just chocolate flavours we love, with our eclectic taste buds, we are always on the prowl for unusual ice cream flavors! Some of our top ice cream merchants like Inside Scoop, Baskin Robbins and Kind Kones are leading the way with the quirkiest flavors in the market with flavours like Almond Brittle Fudge and Salted Chocolate Chip.

Quintessential Malaysian flavors such as Cempedak, Teh Tarik and White Rabbit are also a fan favourite. In fact, when we had the opportunity to partner with Inside Scoop to sell the much anticipated White Rabbit ice cream, we sold out in just a mere four hours!

Now, we are entering the durian season,  so it’s no surprise that another most ordered flavour is the king of fruits himself from inside Scoop.

With food delivery services like GrabFood changing the way we eat everyday, it’s now easier than ever to get our ice cream fix – especially with over 84 ice cream outlets on GrabFood to choose from!
