Weave Ketupats To Be Pledged For Charity At Pavilion KL

May 23, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

Ever wanted to learn how to weave ketupats? Or are you already a pro and want to put your ketupat weaving skills to the test? Join us here at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s premier shopping destination as we celebrate Hari Raya by bringing Malaysians together to give back to the community through ‘The Beauty of Raya’ CSR initiative, inspired by the iconic ketupat.

The ketupat, a symbol of Malaysian unity and the spirit of Hari Raya, is a beautiful representation of the mall’s campaign, aptly titled ‘The Beauty of Raya’, which is all about inclusiveness and bridging communities together to celebrate Hari Raya with charity at heart. Return to the heritage of weaving ketupat, illuminated by joy from now until 13 June.

In keeping with the tradition of ketupat-weaving, come learn the art and create your very own decorative ketupat right in the heart of Pavilion KL’s Centre Court, or make them at home, creatively using materials such as ribbons or fabric – the choice is yours. With every ketupat that is woven and collected at Pavilion KL, the mall will donate RM1 to charity, with a target of 30,000 ketupats pledged for charity. Pavilion KL will also attempt to cement a record-breaking achievement with the Malaysia Book of Records for ‘Most Number of Ketupats Woven For Charity’. Be a part of history and join in!

If you would like to participate in the weaving of the iconic ketupat and make a difference, head to
Centre Court, Level 2 today. If you are weaving the ketupat at home, hand over your creations at any of Pavilion KL’s concierge counters.
