Popinjays Afternoon Tea Takes Flight

February 14, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

Popinjays, the rooftop lifestyle destination located in The Murray, Hong Kong, a Niccolo Hotel, has launched a fun and interactive afternoon tea. Designed to inspire and delight, this flamboyant interpretation of the classic high-tea ritual embodies Popinjays’ spirit of playful indulgence.

Bursting with colour, the Popinjays Afternoon Tea features a series of tantalising treats. The selection includes savoury items such as Organic Egg, Kristal Caviar, Créme Fraîche, Blinis and Blue Lobster, Celeriac and Apple Remoulade as well as a selection of savoury muffins. Guests preferring sweets can choose Salted Pistachio Cassis Tartelette, Strawberry Lamington, Thai Basil Cream, Raspberry Macaroon with Violet Mascarpone, Ecuador 56% Dark Chocolate Tart and Coconut and Pineapple Eclaire. Highlighting the afternoon tea service are warm scones served with homemade papaya and mango jam accompanied by cream whipped à la minute.

The Popinjays Afternoon Tea is priced at HKD 688 for two (inclusive of coffee and tea). For an additional HKD 300 per person, guests can enjoy a glass of Deutz Blanc de Blanc champagne or Charles-Heidsieck Rosé.

Adding to flair and flamboyance to the afternoon are the pièce de résistance Popinjays Signature Scones which come in two favours, Cherry Jubilee or Blood Orange, and flambéed tableside. This show stopping experience is available at an additional HKD 90 for a pair.

To complete the experience, Popinjays’ bar presents enticing tea-infused beverages crafted to complement the sweet offerings. Special drinks include Fruit Dove, an alcohol-free option comprising rosebuds, hibiscus and blackcurrant tea mixed with soda. Exclusive tea blends, premium Jing tea and Illy coffee will also be available for guests who fancy a more traditional high-tea experience.

Afternoon tea guests are also treated with panoramic views of the bustling Central district. Fashionable foodies can reserve The Aviary, a 20-seat private room with a terrace, and host Hong Kong’s most exclusive tea party.

For reservations and enquiries, please email [email protected] or contact +852 3141 8888 or visit niccolohotels.com.
