SURIA KLCC CENTRE COURT TURNED INTO A CELEBRATION GROUND TO WELCOME DEEPAVALI CELEBRATION MARKING THE BEGINNING OF THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

November 6, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

Malaysia’s premier shopping mall, Suria KLCC usher in the joyous Deepavali celebration or better known as the Festival of Lights this year with the launch of “Lights of Joy” today, inspired by the spiritual significance of Deepavali that reflects on our everyday life. The festival of light also signifies a time of inner illumination where Hindus believes there is one light that continues to shine in the chamber of everyone’s heart and illuminate the soul.
The Deepavali’s vibrant ambience can be felt with colorful decorations at the centre court of Suria KLCC. There are two 20-feet Kolam with peacock motives, each sits on the right and left sides of the stage, complementing the overall decoration at the centre court. The Hindus believe that peacock symbolizes unity and brings good fortune. In the Indian tradition, Kolam which are created using colored rice is also displayed as a sign of welcoming prosperity and blessings. The Kolam flaunt an intricate design, harmonized in various colors capturing the essence of unity and unify.
“The Lights of Joy is a fitting theme for Suria KLCC’s Deepavali celebration this year as we acknowledge that festivities such as the festival of lights bring joy and unite Malaysians in a unique way. Deepavali is a unifying event, it is a time when people mingle about in joy and embrace one another with love and respect. As an iconic premier shopping mall and tourist attractions, we are honored to be a hub of these festive celebrations that connects people from all walk of life,” said Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd’s Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Brien.

The festival of lights at Suria KLCC will be held until 7 November 2018 and during this celebration period, shoppers who purchase RM1,000 and above in a single receipt at any of our specialty stores are entitled to redeem a pair of colorful hand-painted bowls. The redemption gift is available while stocks last. For shoppers who prefer hassle-free shopping experience this festive season, visit our center court for everything on Deepavali preparation such as spices, fashions, accessories and home décor products.
What’s a celebration without performances. In line with the theme – the “Lights of Joy”, Suria KLCC has lined up activities and traditional performances such as Bharat-Natyam, Bollywood dance, semi-classical dance, Bhavai dance, Ghoomar dance, Kathak vs Bharatanatyam, Dandiya Raaz or also known as Kollatam, Odissi and Peacock dance. Deepavali is not just a time for celebration but also for us to remember the less fortunate and to bring happiness into their lives. As a company that cares, Suria KLCC continues to collaborate with Hospis Malaysia for a “Speak Up – There’s Elephant in the Room” campaign that aims to create awareness on palliative care this festive season.
Suria KLCC also offers shoppers the opportunity to support this good cause by offering our limited-edition “Cik Gajah” wool felt document folder. Priced at RM15 per piece, this limited-edition document folder will go on sale at the Centre Court starting from 2 November 2018 until 7 November 2018. There are 10 “Cik Gajah” created for the campaign and each has been adopted by donors from the private sector including Suria KLCC, who is also a venue host for the sculptures. The 10 “Cik Gajah” is currently being displayed at three strategic locations in Suria KLCC from 15 October until April 2019.
“We are honored to collaborate with an organization that focuses on improving the quality of life for terminally ill patients and their family as it is in line with Suria KLCC’s mission as a company that cares. While Hospis Malaysia focuses on encouraging patients to speak up, Suria KLCC aims to create awareness on the importance of listening to these patients. It is my hope that on this auspicious festival of lights, may the glow of joy, prosperity and happiness illuminate everyone’s life,” Andrew Brien concluded.
