Hilton Hotel & Resorts and DoubleTree Hotel & Resorts CSR initiative – Wish Upon a Star across Hilton Malaysia

November 23, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

Christmas has been long celebrated every year across the globe with faith, joy and enthusiasm. It is the season of love, happiness and peace. In this time of good tidings, Hilton Hotels in Malaysia are rekindling the true essence of Christmas by making a child’s wish come true with Make-A-Wish Malaysia, the world’s largest wish-granting organisation for the inaugural “When You Wish Upon A Star” campaign.

This fundraising initiative set to begin from 1st December until Christmas Day, 25th December 2018 is aimed at raising funds and fulfilling a child’s wish. Two brands from the Hilton portfolio in Malaysia, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Resorts will be adopting a child each to follow their wish journey from start to finish and making their wish come true via proceeds made throughout the month of December.

Guests are invited to participate in the “When You Wish Upon A Star” campaign by purchasing Christmas related items with a blue star sticker such as Christmas Yule Log cakes, Santa cookies, and even buffet lunches and dinners specially created by the in-house chefs from Hilton in Malaysia. A total of RM2 from each sale purchase of every Christmas-related item will be collectively channelled to the foundation to bring the magic of Christmas to a terminally ill child.

Jamie Mead, Regional General Manager, Malaysia said, “At Hilton, we use our power in hospitality to create a positive impact on the community. The reason for the season of giving extends far beyond the needs of our nearest and dearest, but to all who are in need. It is truly an honor to be working with Make-A-Wish Malaysia to make a difference in a child’s life.”

Mead further added, as Hilton’s vision is to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality, Hilton wants to surprise and delight these children by making their wishes come true this Christmas. By giving back to society, we are honoured to be able to put a smile on their faces and put their worries behind for a day at the very least. This undeniably, makes our job mean so much more.

Irene Tan, Chief Executive Officer, Make-A-Wish Malaysia said, “At Make-A-Wish Malaysia we want to allow each and every child together with their families to put aside their challenges for a day. By making their wish come true, we are able to at least fill them with hope, strength and joy. Working with a very reputable brand such as Hilton to give back to these children, is something worthwhile to see. Hilton truly is changing the way of hospitality, one step at a time.”

Tan further added that this program provides a unique opportunity to make an immediate, direct and substantial impact on the life of the adopted child. The financial investment provided from the sales of the Christmas related items ensures that the foundation has the funds available to grant the wishes of every eligible child.

Join us and make a child’s wish come true by purchasing your Christmas goodies at these participating hotels, Hilton Kuala Lumpur, Hilton Petaling Jaya, Hilton Kuching, Hilton Kota Kinabalu, DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru, DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka, DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang.
