Christopher Sommers joins K11 ARTUS as General Manage

November 1, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

K11 ARTUS, a luxury residence concept to open in summer 2019 at Victoria Dockside, is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Sommers as General Manager. A hospitality veteran, Christopher’s distinguished career has focused on operating and launching luxury properties around the world. He will bring his global expertise, project management skills and 17 years of industry experience to his new role.

Throughout his career, Christopher has worked extensively with luxury properties from the USA and Portugal to Russia and China. During his four-year stint at The Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou, the hotel earned a five-star rating from the Forbes Travel Guide under his leadership.

Christopher was also involved in opening a number of Ritz-Carlton properties in Chengdu, Tianjin, Haikou, Kyoto and Macau. Prior to joining K11 ARTUS, Christopher was appointed as General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Haikou where he oversaw the pre-opening and operation of the brands first golf resort in China. As an experienced luxury hotelier, he has built and developed talented teams to create experiences that meet the expectations of the most discerning guests. People-oriented and innovative, he is very excited to bring on a team of Artisans that will create a unique ARTUS experience that will change the way the luxury traveler envisions hospitality.

Paul Cunningham, General Manager of Hospitality and Portfolio Management of New World Development said, “It is my sincere pleasure to welcome Christopher to K11 ARTUS. With expertise in overseeing pre-opening and operating luxury hotels, his professional leadership is key in the successful launch of this pioneering hospitality concept, and the development of innovative operational strategies that follow.”

“I am thrilled to be part of K11 ARTUS, a groundbreaking project that will redefine the concept of hotel & serviced apartments set amidst the new art & cultural district of Hong Kong; Victoria Dockside,” notes Christopher Sommers. “A refined intuitive service experience fueled by the passion of our Artisans combined with the incredible design of open-air living spaces will set a new benchmark for the luxury traveller.

“To me, ARTUS is more than a space to live, it represents a key component of the Victoria Dockside’s extended community; an ecosystem of art, culture and design.  Bringing the project to fruition has brought me a new state of mind, and I am excited to lead the team towards inspiring others.”
