THE LANGHAM, HONG KONG ILLUMINATES PALM COURT WITH THE ‘TWINKLE IN THE MOONLIGHT’ AFTERNOON TEA

August 24, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

The Langham, Hong Kong celebrates the Mid-Autumn season with a new afternoon tea creation inspired by the festival’s enchanting essence and the Chinese folklore. The oriental-inspired Afternoon Tea is available for the whole month of September at Palm Court, home of the English Afternoon Tea in London since 1865.

Crafted by the talented Executive Pastry Chef David Puig, the impressive range of sweet pastries reflects a unique combination of magnificence and playfulness. Begin with The Moon, a cornerstone of the festival made of galaxy glazed lychee and raspberry mousse cake with rose essence, sacher sponge cake and topped with a golden crescent moon. Indulge in the aromatic Sesame composed of sesame praline financier with milk chocolate coating and whipped praline cream. The gracefully presented Osmanthus Mooncake is chocolate coated with osmanthus tea ganache and a William pears Pâte de Fruit filling. The Pamplemousse is the pomelo mousse and confit topped on an almond frangipane cream tartlet, delicately created with refreshing hint of citrus. Jade Rabbit, the enlivening white and fluffy resident of the Moon Palace, is portrayed alongside the French macaron with spiced pumpkin filling and almond sable.

Delight your taste buds with an enticing array of savouries including the Soy-braised mushrooms and chestnuts mini brioche; Steamed Crab and cucumber salad with vinegar and ginger; Puff pastry savoury pork cakes with black truffle and the Roasted duck with Hoisin sauce green tea roll.

Guests who opt for the deluxe menu will also enjoy the exclusive sweet creation La Rose, an exotic fruit lollipop with Madagascar vanilla mousse and pistachio, as well as a glass of Perrier-Jouët, NV, Brut Champagne.

All tea sets come with warm plain and raisin scones fresh from Palm Court’s very own bakery served with Devonshire clotted cream, strawberry jam and rose preserve.

The Twinkle in the Moonlight Afternoon Tea is available at Palm Court from 1 to 30 September, on weekdays from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m., and on weekends and public holidays in two sittings, from 2:15 – 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. The classic tea set is priced at HK$348 for one person and HK$598 for two persons, while the deluxe set is priced at HK$528 for one person and HK$888 for two persons. All prices are subject to a 10% service charge.
