AN EVENTFUL AFTERNOON WITH CHILDREN FROM RUMAH KASIH HARMONI

July 11, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

One World Hotel Petaling Jaya spent a fun-filled afternoon with children from Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras as part of the hotel’s continuous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. A total of 50 underprivileged children ranging from 7 to 17 years of age and 1 caretaker were treated to an epic movie followed by a lavish buffet hi tea spread at the Cinnamon Coffee House for the Raya celebration.

Upon arrival, hotel associates from various departments led by Public Relations Manager, Ms Feryal Mufti warmly greeted and ushered the overly-excited children to TGV Cinema located at One Utama to watch the blockbuster release entitled Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Little voices were heard ooh-ing and aah-ing whilst snacking on popcorn throughout the 2-hour intense movie, such a joy to hear the children exhibited their enthusiasm.

Shortly afterwards, they were feted to a sumptuous repast at the hotel’s award-winning outlet. From the hotel’s signature chicken rice, pasta a la minute, assorted satay to a variety of luscious cakes, traditional kuih and homemade ice cream, the children were spoiled for choice with endless food options of local specialties and delicacies.

The event concluded with distribution of ‘duit raya’, boxes of provisions donated by hotel employees and a group photography session to capture memories.

“We are so blessed with luxuries in our lives that we sometimes forget about the less fortunate. It was definitely an honour to be able to host these children in our hotel and to see warm smiles on each of their faces was just priceless! We hope that today’s event has been a memorable and enjoyable one especially for the children,” said Feryal Mufti, Public Relations Manager

Rumah Kasih Harmoni is located at Jalan Khalifah Zakaria 1, Kampung Paya Jaras Hilir, 47000 Sungai Buloh, Selangor. Currently a home to 55 males and 45 females of disadvantaged children including orphans, those with poor single parents, abandoned, homeless and hardcore poor family. Rumah Kasih Harmoni houses a maximum of 100 children aged between 1 and 17.
