McDonald’s Kicks-Off ‘Discover the World’ campaign with the return of the Rio Burger

June 19, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

McDonald’s Malaysia’s ‘Discover the World’ campaign is back once again, as the Rio Burger makes a return during this exciting campaign of explosive and exotic flavours.

The highly-anticipated beef Rio Burger is making a comeback since it was first introduced during the 2016 Rio Olympics. This time around, it will also be available in a chicken variant.

The Rio Burger promises to take Malaysians on a tantalizing journey to taste the flavours of Rio on our very own shores. The limited time offer is the first in a series of upcoming menu item launches that will bring distinctive tastes from selected regions around the globe to McDonald’s restaurants nationwide.

The Rio Burger is a flavourful choice for footie fans watching World Cup matches, offering a succulent chargrilled beef or chicken patty, layered with a mix of colourful vegetables, cheddar cheese and the special Rio sauce, topped with a black and white sesame football bun.

Available starting today, the Rio Burger comes in a set together with french fries and either Coke McFreeze or Fanta McFreeze and is priced from RM14.95 for a meal.

Another piece of good news for football fanatics planning to catch the late-night games, McDonald’s as a sponsor of the 2018 FIFA World Cup is also offering a shareable size of its world-famous fries — the World Cup Mega Fries. Perfect for sharing with friends and family whilst watching a match, the World Cup Mega Fries has plenty more to offer, because as a true fan would say, “You can never have too many fries!”

Awesome McFlurries and World Cup FAN Bundles

The hugely-popular D24 Durian McFlurry is returning as well after receiving an overwhelming response from Malaysians during its introduction last year. It was met with delight from durian lovers and even non-durian lovers alike, contributing to it being sold out within a week! The D24 Durian McFlurry is available for only RM8.99.

Complementing the D24 Durian McFlurry this time is the new Black Forest McFlurry Party. Priced at only RM10.95, the new Black Forest McFlurry Party will be a permanent menu item and available at the front counter, drive-thru, McDelivery Service and all McDonald’s Dessert counters and kiosks.

Apart from the McFlurry desserts, McDonald’s is also offering two new shareable menu item bundles for fans to enjoy during matches. The World Cup FAN (Fries, Ayam, Nuggets) bundle comes in two sizes and consists of french fries, Ayam Goreng McD and Chicken McNuggets.

FAN Bundle A consisting of 5pcs of Ayam Goreng McD, 9pcs Chicken McNuggets and one Mega Fries is priced at RM35.00. Meanwhile, FAN Bundle B consisting of 9pcs of Ayam Goreng McD, 20pcs Chicken McNuggets and two Mega Fries is priced at RM59.95.  Both FAN bundles are available for dine-in, take-away and even through McDelivery.

McDonald’s Malaysia Chief Marketing Officer, Melati Abdul Hai said the simultaneous timings of the ‘Discover the World’ campaign with the FIFA World Cup will undoubtedly excite McDonald’s fans due to the numerous, delicious offerings.

“We are confident the range of menu items during our ‘Discover the World’ campaign will satiate the appetite of all our customers, as it has every year. At McDonald’s, our commitment is to provide a modern and welcoming environment where friends can come together to celebrate, and where families can create happy moments together,” said Melati.

Customers are guaranteed to feel the in-store World Cup fever, as all 64 matches can be viewed live at McDonald’s restaurants from 14 June till 15 July 2018. Other exciting in-store activities in keeping with the football spirit include giving away a free small serving of french fries when the first goal is scored for every match. In addition, customers can also redeem a free medium Coke through the McDonald’s app.
