McDonald’s introduces Nasi Lemak Burger in celebration of Malaysians’ love for the traditional, favourite local food

April 26, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

Malaysians can now savour McDonald’s take on nasi lemak, as they introduce the Nasi Lemak Burger to celebrate Malaysians’ love for the traditional and all-time favourite local food.

Available for a limited time only starting from 26 April, the locally-inspired Nasi Lemak Burger is set to tantalize one’s taste buds — made with a juicy coconut flavoured chicken thigh patty, coated with a cornflake crunch, and topped with a special sambal sauce, fried egg, caramelised onions, refreshing cucumber slices and all nestled in a chilli infused bun.
McDonald’s Malaysia Chief Marketing Officer, Melati Abdul Hai, said McDonald’s takes pride in offering the Malaysian favourite.

The McDonald’s Nasi Lemak burger is yet another locally-inspired menu item to join the ranks of other all-time local favourites. These include the Bubur Ayam, Cakoi and the very popular Ayam Goreng McD.
In addition, McDonald’s Malaysia has also created a following for local flavours in its desserts menu such as the D24 Durian McFlurry, MILO McFlurry, Banana Pie, Pulut Hitam Pie, Red Bean Pie, Taro Pie and Cendol flavoured cone.

“McDonald’s Nasi Lemak Burger was inspired from the mouth-watering local nasi lemak sold by local vendors and we are proud to be able to pay tribute to them for keeping the nasi lemak legacy alive to this very day.

“In honour of local nasi lemak vendors across the country as well as to celebrate Malaysians’ love for this popular dish, McDonald’s had invited six nasi lemak vendors to be part of the celebration today,” said Melati.

They are:
1. Nasi Lemak BK 4, Bandar Kinrara, Kuala Lumpur
2. Nasi Lemak Angah, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur
3. Warung Sinarnor, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Kuala Lumpur
4. Warung Rindu Pak Ya, Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur
5. Nasi Lemak Mok Teh, Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur
6. Barba Bros, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya

Moving forward, McDonald’s will continuously seek to bring excitement to its menu with choices of meals that cater to the tastes of its diverse customers. “We want to get close to providing something for everybody — simple, easy choices, that is of great value and tastes great.
“To achieve this will require us to be customer obsessed, constantly working on menu innovation, and have the agility to respond to the changing customer demands,” she added.

“In line with our brand promise of making delicious feel-good moments easy for everyone, McDonald’s Malaysia will continue to focus on offering fresh and high-quality food at exceptional value that all Malaysians can enjoy any time any day,” said Melati.

McDonald’s Nasi Lemak Burger is available at RM14.95 for an ala carte and RM16.95 for a regular set meal, that includes French Fries & a 100PLUS.
