KL’S TOP MALLS BRINGS BACK THE TRADITION OF CULTURE AND HAPPINESS THIS CHINESE NEW YEAR

February 7, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

Take a step back in time and be immersed in the warm and welcoming ambience of an ancient Chinese tea village this Chinese New Year at Suria KLCC and Alamanda Shopping Centre. A sweeping two-storey traditional house surrounded by classic shops and beautiful hanging red lanterns as a nod to yesteryears is set to mesmerise shoppers and visitors alike.

Present at the Chinese New Year launch event included the management of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd, Andrew Brien, Executive Director/ Chief Executive Officer; Francis Tan, Chief Operating Officer; Ben Chong, General Manager of Suria KLCC and Edmund Lim and Yap Sook Yee, co-founders of We Care Journey Association.

Inspired by the spirit of the festivities, this year’s mall décor marries both tradition and elegance, creating perfect photo opportunities for all. Colourful tea plantation displays with a 20-ft plum blossom wishing tree, dotted with 1,000 hanging red and gold ribbons are the embodiment of style and perfection.

The grand display is perfectly complemented with a tea drinking appreciation showcase at all the main entrances of Suria KLCC to signify the essence of the celebration; uniting family members on Chinese New Year.

Besides bringing families together, this Chinese New Year is an essential time to unite Malaysians irrespective of religion, creed and background. Once again, Suria KLCC has constructed the tallest Chinese lantern at the Esplanade KLCC. This majestic structure is 22 metres in height and 12 metres in width certified by The Malaysia Book of Records. Visitors can snap pictures with this eye-catching structure until 22 February.

Exciting Performances Aplenty

Come experience a variety of jaw-dropping performances the whole family can enjoy at Suria KLCC that includes Lion dances, Chinese acrobatic show, Chinese musical performance (Gu-Zheng) and the God of Prosperity walkabouts from 25 January until 18 February, 2018. Equally exciting for Alamanda and Mesra Mall shoppers is a number of thrilling lion dance activities and many more!

A Time To Give Back
Along with creative and unique decorations, Suria KLCC has pledged its support towards spreading Chinese New Year happiness to the We Care Journey through the ‘Share The Care’ fundraising effort. The aim is to raise awareness among the public about Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and a minimum of RM10,000 from 25 January until 28 February, 2018.

Shoppers and visitors who donate RM10 for the cause will receive a red ribbon as an appreciation of their support. Donors are encouraged to write down their name or message on the ribbon and hung on a plum blossom wishing tree placed at the Park Mall entrance of Suria KLCC. All funds raised will be channeled to the We Care Journey for purchase of health equipment as well as to support We Care Journey’s development programmes for families and children with SMA.
