Loads of fun, laughter and joy greeted the children from Yayasan Sunbeams Home when they came to Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel for a Christmas Lunch at the R-Studio today. A yearly affair for Christmas and as part of Marriott’s Spirit to Serve Our Communities initiative, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel hosted 75 underprivileged children from Yayasan Sunbeams Home.
Carols were sung, games were played whilst Santa and Santarina came visiting with generous gifts from hotel guests and staff. The children went home with Christmas presents, full tummies and Christmas cheer to last them through the holiday season. They also took home a pair of shoes each, courtesy of Explorer Tourism Network, a caring tourism destination organization that has pledged to ‘walk the extra mile’ to give generously.
Known as Wish Upon A Star campaign, this initiative is carried out every December where two hundred and twenty (220) tags in the shape of stars are placed on the 25-feet tall Christmas tree in the East Wing lobby of Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel. On these Christmas stars, the children from Yayasan Sunbeam Homes, Lighthouse Children’s Welfare Home Association and Stepping Stones Living Centre placed their Christmas wishes. Hotel guests and staff bought gifts or gave monetary contribution to enable a gift to be purchased for each child.
Thanks to the generous support of the community at large, approximately 220 children in the Klang Valley received a gift of Christmas this year.
