ASCOTT WELCOMES NEW COUNTRY GENERAL MANAGER ITS THAILAND CLUSTER

CapitaLand’s wholly owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott) announces the appointment of Mr. Brian Tan as its new Country General Manager for Thailand. He will be responsible for overseeing the operations of Ascott’s properties in Thailand, which includes 11 operating properties with 7 more under development, and drive the growth of the company’s serviced residence business in the country.

Mr. Tan brings with him over 22 years of professional working experience. Prior to his move to Ascott, he was General Manager, Regional Operations at Frasers Hospitality, where he was global head of security & crisis management and oversaw a cluster of properties in southern China.  He also completed General Manager assignments in Wuhan, Suzhou and Shanghai. 

Earlier in his hospitality career, Mr. Tan held progressive positions with Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, including Director of Quality in Singapore and Director of Operations in China. In the year 2014, Mr. Tan was named Hotel Manager of the Year in the inaugural edition of The China Hotelier Awards, which featured senior nominations from some of the most renowned brands in the global hotel industry.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr. Tan said,

“I am honored to be spearheading Ascott’s serviced residence business in Thailand. It is an exciting market that continues to grow on the back of sound economic fundamentals and tourism trends.

Amidst the technological disruptions of our times, an increasingly competitive landscape and the evolving needs of our guests, we are confident of building a strong team of associates who will deliver memorable stay experiences for our guests, bring about sustainable returns to our business partners, drive innovation, make a positive impact on our communities and expand the Ascott’s footprint in Thailand.”

Mr Tan was a Singapore Tourism Board postgraduate scholarship recipient and holds a Master of Management in Hospitality from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore.

Ascott is the currently the largest international serviced residence owner-operator in Thailand, with 18 properties and more than 3,100 units (including those under development) across Bangkok, Pattaya and Sri Racha, all nestled in prime business, entertainment districts, and designed for discerning expatriates and travelers on business or leisure.
