Sibu’s Central Market @ Sibu : Not the Usual Market!

November 14, 2017 By StrawberrY Gal - Sarawak, Sibu, Travel Leave a Comment

Sibu’s Central Market, on Jln Channel opposite the Express Boat Passenger Terminal, is the largest and most interesting market in Sarawak. The market was such an eye opening where it was a total different experience comparing to the markets in the peninsular.

Over 6 stories tall and 18,000 square metres, it was built to encompass an area where once about five small, scattered, and sketchy little markets once made illicit trades. And the market is the the largest market in all of Malaysia and a major tourist attraction.

There are so much to shop here and you can find the top three floors belong to the Urban Transportation Center, a federal government agency. The second floor has a huge hawker food center. And the ground floor is all fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, meats, and more.

Even being a Malaysian; we were captured with loads of interesting stuff in the market. Not just that, you can grab almost everything here from live items, to dried food and all.
How To Get To Sibu Market
The Sibu Central Market is located on the waterfront opposite the Express Boat Terminals to Kapit and further up the river.
