November 3, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Chef Teppei Yamashita, owner-chef of the 2017 MICHELIN Guide Singapore Bib Gourmand Man Man, brings Teppei Syokudo to Georgetown, while TAPS Beer Bar, The Bar Awards Kuala Lumpur 2017 Best Beer Bar, pops their craft beer bottles and taps. These heavyweights are joined by SOi 55 Modern Thai Food, Embers Asian Grill, Qwenchers Juice Bar and more in a designer lifestyle showroom decked out by Kian Furniture within an industry heritage sawmill.

Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia, 2 November 2017 – The Steamship Merchants will take over Penang’s first sawmill, The Saw Emporium until Q1 2018, and transform the 1950 art-deco heritage building and godowns into a multi-concept dining destination with leading partners featuring top restauranteurs and bars from the region. Swallow @ The Saw Emporium opens on 10 November 2017 from 6 pm until late on Macallum Road within heritage enclave, the Seven Streets Precinct in Georgetown, near the upcoming Penang Arts District. The opening weekend begins at 10 am to late on 11 & 12 November for an exciting fun-filled experience in an unexpected location.

Clinching the win for Best Beer Bar at The Bar Awards 2017 in Kuala Lumpur just weeks ago, is TAPS Beer Bar, with craft bottles and taps from Scotland’s BrewDog, Japan’s Hitachino Nest Beer and America’s Rouge Ales, while Embers turns up the flames for the carnivores with slow-roasted BBQ meats ala All-American Steakhouses with Asian flavours. Beyond Average Beverages, Qwenchers brings a refreshing respite in Penang’s heat with a juice bar for the teetotallers, amongst others.

Apart from a repurposed 5-m long timbre dining table in the courtyard, salvaged sawmilling parts and wood from the former sawmill, Swallow @ The Saw Emporium is thematically styled as a lifestyle showroom with stunning designer pieces by Kian Furniture in the courtyard, covered terrace, lounges, bar and dining areas.
