The Langham, Hong Kong serves up the EAT RED Menu to Support AIDS Concern

October 25, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

The Langham, Hong Kong announces to join forces once again with local advocacy and charity group’s 27th Anniversary AIDS Concern with an annual fund raising gala dinner on Friday, November 17th and to continue with a month long special fundraising “red” drinks and dinner set menus in hotel’s Artesian bar and Bostonian Seafood Grill.

AIDS Concern was the first non-government charity and volunteer organisation committed to the services of AIDS care in Hong Kong since 1990, with a vision to see Hong Kong with Triple Zero HIV infections and in fighting stigma, discrimination and improving quality of life for people living with HIV and AIDS.

“We are proud of our long-standing partnership and commitment to AIDS Concern in support of its vital mission on prevention, its anti-stigma campaign and the support services programs provided to people and families impacted by HIV and AIDS” said the hotel’s Managing Director, Shaun Campbell.

“Two new people are being infected in Hong Kong every day,” said the AIDS Concern’s Chief Executive, Andrew Chidgey. “The positive news on HIV is that in some international cities including San Francisco and London, HIV rates are now beginning to fall. It’s AIDS Concern’s ambition for Hong Kong to be one of the first cities in ASIA to have a falling infection rate.”

Exclusively designed by Executive Chef Pedro Samper and his culinary team, a four-course red set dinner that is inspired by the official colour of AIDS Concern will be taking the centre stage at Bostonian Seafood and Grill, a restaurant renowned for premium steaks and fresh seafood specialties. The menu kicks off with House-made Cured Salmon Tartare with avocado, salmon roe, pickled red onion, crème fraiche and purple shiso, followed by the signature Bostonian Lobster Bisque. Satiate the experience with Wagyu Beef Cheek with beetroot puree and crunch, heirloom carrots, red sorrel in red wine sauce. Indulge in a sweet complement to the night with Red Berries Charlotte with pink lady finger sponge, red berries mousse, mix berries and raspberry sorbet.

Artesian mixologist Joe Chan and his fashionable bar crew have created two red cocktails to celebrate the month of red. Pink Power is a bubbly drink filled with lychee liqueur, rose syrup and prosecco, with a rose petal elegantly floating on top. Another cocktail is Red Ribbon with a peach vodka base, blended with grapefruit and lemon juices, elderflower liqueur, passion fruit, peach and grenadine syrup, garnished with grapefruit peel twist akin to the AIDS Concern logo.

The EAT RED dinner menu is priced at HK$480 per person while both cocktails are priced at HK$80 each. All dining offers are available from 1 November to 1 December 2017 (World AIDS Day) and subject to a ten per cent service charge. Ten per cent of the proceeds of the dining offers will be donated to AIDS Concern for its education and prevention programme.

On 17 November 2017, the AIDS Concern Annual Gala Dinner 2017 will be held at The Langham, Hong Kong ballroom with the theme of “Silk and Studs”.

As the title sponsor for the third consecutive year, The Langham, Hong Kong has also contributed raffle prizes, including dining vouchers at the Three Michelin-starred T’ang Court, and Bostonian Seafood and Grill, which received a rating of “comfortable” at Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2017. Other prizes include three-night accommodation with complimentary breakfast and couple’s spa treatment at The Langham, Sydney.

The dinner is widely supported by celebrities and dignitaries including Courtney Act, a famous female impersonator idol from Australia, who will be performing that evening. A limited number of tickets are still available for HK $30,000/ 25,000/ 20,000 each table.
