Lobster Bar and Grill Welcomes Talented Guest Bartender Osman Fethi Baycan From Turkey

September 14, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong’s Lobster Bar and Grillwelcomes the acclaimed Osman Fethi Baycan from Istanbul, Turkey, as a guest bartender from 21 to 24 September 2017.

Osman aspires to promote and represent his own country’s culture through his cocktails. For instance, his signature cocktail eFe was inspired by the Cuba Libre and its history, which is similar to his country’s history. He dedicated eFe, meaning “hero” in Turkish culture, to all the great leaders who fought and won against the odds. Osman also prides himself on his innovative cocktails, of which one of the items on his menu, named Knock! Knock! can only be ordered by knocking on the wooden bar twice.

In a country where it is difficult for cocktail bars to gain international recognition, Osman has worked diligently at global competitions. One of the cocktails on his menu, Amor Duro, won at the Tahona Society Cocktail competition. In 2016, he won champion at the Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition in Turkey. From there, he took his signature cocktail eFe to represent his country in the Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition 2017 in Berlin.

The 28-year-old Osman is talented in the art of mixing cocktails and well-versed in what it takes to run and manage a bar. He took on the role of bar manager for Zeplin Pub and Delicatessen before becoming head bartender of Alexandra Cocktail Bar in Istanbul, Turkey. Prior to all of this, Osman has also worked as a director and consultant for bar programmes, allowing him to gain extensive experience in the creation of cocktails and developing his own individual stylistic flair in the presentation of cocktails.

During his visit to Hong Kong, Osman will work alongside Lobster Bar’s head bartender Paolo De Venuto to delight Hong Kong bar-goers with his winning cocktail creations.

Lobster Bar offers a convivial atmosphere to unwind and savour a series of innovativecocktails crafted by Paolo De Venuto and his team of cocktailians. The Bar ranked fourth, the highest in Hong Kong, at Asia’s 50 Best Bars Awards 2016 by Drinks International and 27th at the World’s 50 Best Bar Awards 2016. It was also named the Best Hotel Bar in The
Bar Awards Hong Kong 2017

Lobster Bar and Grill opens daily from noon to 1 a.m. from Sundays to Thursdays and from noon to 2 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays. For more information, guests may call (852) 2820 8560 or send an e-mail to [email protected]f
