DELECTABLE NASI KANDAR @ MELTING POT CAFE

August 2, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Nasi kandar, a signature dish of Penang that is well known to all foodies regardless of race, is now served at Melting Pot Café during dinner throughout August.

The word Nasi Kandar, came about from a time when rice hawkers or vendors would balance a ‘kandar’ pole on their shoulder with two huge containers of rice meals. Steamed white rice served with flavourful mixed curries, deep-fried prawns, fish or squid plus papadom (must-have crackers), mango chutney, fresh green chillies, telur dadar, blanched ladies finger or fried cabbage by the side.

There will be three sets of menu available that rotates daily. Titillate your taste buds with the famous kari kepala ikan, daging masak hitam, kurma kambing, puyuh goreng berempah, sotong kuah, assam pedas ikan or telur ikan goreng. There is also some vegetable dishes to go along with the curries like peria goreng, bendi goreng. Other items include salted egg, raw green chilli and papadom.

A choice of nasi briyani or normal steamed white rice is also available to compliment those yummylicious dishes. Aside from rice and curries, do try some noodle base dish like mee rebus or our own Concorde laksa. Nasi kandar is an added speciality apart from the daily buffet dinner. This special delicacy is by Chef Rogayah Sharif, Junior Sous Chef from the Malay kitchen.

This promotion is available for dinner daily at Melting Pot Café from August 4 to 30, 2017. Buffet dinner is priced from RM110.00 nett per person. For reservations, please call Melting Pot Café at 2717 2233.
