Locally-infused Experiences with Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts

July 13, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Travellers far and wide are seeking experiences that allow them to appreciate destinations, to be a part of the local community and leave inspired.  Discover new places and interact with locals at Banyan Tree Groups’ collection of hotels and resorts featuring exclusive and authentic experiences unique to the destination. From learning the national sport in Thailand to tracking down the endemic coco-de-mer in the Seychelles, Banyan Tree will ensure signature, memorable once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Bee Part of the Melipona Community

Over at Banyan Tree Mayakoba, Mexico, guests can visit neighbouring community “Vida y Esperanza” in the jungle and learn to make their own handmade Melipona soap and learn about Melipona bee honeycombs as part of the hotel’s dedication in supporting the preservation of an endangered species known as the Mayan Queen Bee. On returning to the resort, guests can enjoy a Melipona honey-based treatment at Banyan Tree Spa. The honey oil that is extracted from the bees, is a time-honoured remedy for detoxifying and healing the skin. Book Best Available Rate from USD 519/night.

Exotic Nature
Nature-lovers can find endemic species, such as the renowned coco-de-mer, and indigenous coconut palm trees, at Banyan Tree Seychelles. The Morne Seychellois National Park is the largest in Seychelles and was created in 1979. It covers a total surface area of 3,045ha, and is an open book of nature that illustrates the beauty of the natural environment. It is home to a diversity of fauna and flora and there are many wonders to discover, ranging from the crystal–clear waters of marine parks to the luscious green flora that carpets the tropical forests. Coco-de-mer is a rare species of palm tree native to the Seychelles archipelago and, after exploring the National Park, guests can indulge in coco-de-mer treatments at the Banyan Tree Spa. Book Best Available Rate from USD 1,089/night.

Stay Active, the Local Way
Learn the fundamentals of Muay Thai, the national sport of Thailand, at Banyan Tree Samui. Fitness buffs can learn the art of Thai boxing with their own personal instructor to guide them through official fighting techniques. Discover the various cultural elements associated with this ‘Art of the Eight Limbs’ – termed after the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins. Book Best Available Rate from USD 866/night.

Potato Ciba Making
At Banyan Tree Jiuzhaigou, guests are invited to enjoy the fun of making Ciba, a typical Sichuan snack that is usually made of sticky rice. Made by smashing boiled potatoes until sticky with a wooden hammer, guests will have the opportunity to learn the technique before trying the Ciba they have made. Book Best Available Rate from USD 294/night.

Hanbok Culture Experience
While staying at Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul, guests are invited to visit the Hanbok Culture Experience Centre located at Namsan Seoul Tower, the landmark of Seoul. Hanbok is the traditional Korean dress characterised by bright colours and sweeping lines. Guests can visit the intriguing photo area representing the Kings and Noblemen of the Joseon Dynasty period, and try on various designs for themselves including the modern and bridal styles of Hanbok. Book Best Available Rate from USD 488/night.

Cooking Class at an Organic Farm

Banyan Tree Lăng Cô’s guests can participate in a cooking class at Lang Co’s own Organic Farm.
