The Royal Art of Afternoon Tea, Plaza Athenee Bangkok

May 20, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Royal associations make afternoon tea at Plaza Athénée Bangkok, A Royal Méridien a particular pleasure.

Since Kandavas Palace, home of Princess Valaya Alongkorn, a daughter of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), and aunt of the late King Bhumipol Adulyadej, originally occupied Plaza Athénée Bangkok, A Royal Méridien’s address, the hotel honours the Thai-colonial era legacy in its recently remodelled design.

And acknowledging that the Royal Projects of Thailand plant and cultivate delicious authentic produce, the hotel’s chefs are inspired by and love to work with them.

Now the two strands combine to create a remarkable Royal Afternoon Tea experience.

Delicately served on silver cake stands amid the city centre hotel’s timelessly elegant lobby, the new Royal Afternoon Tea set menu, just refreshed, highlights three sweet treats inspired by and made from Royal Project produce:

• Royal Project Carrot Cake
• Royal Project Caramel Corn Financier
• Royal Project Beetroot with Passion Fruit Cake
Besides the signatures, Royal Afternoon Tea (THB 1,200++ for two) includes the likes of red velvet mini cupcakes, chocolate lolippops, chorizo/mustard seed sauce bread rolls and cucumber+ quail egg with crab mimosa. Not to mention assorted scones with jam, here creatively enhanced with lemon curd cream. And more.

All washed down with lashings of the finest Vivid teas, ranging from famous Earl Grey and legendary Single Estate Darjeeling to delectable innovations such as Rose with French vanilla and Mediterranean Mandarin. Altogether ten selections are priced at THB 180++ per pot.

Served every day from 14:00 – 17:00 at The Bakery
