Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur has won the coveted Platinum Award under the 5-Star Hotel Category at the Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards 2017 held at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on 23 May 2017.
The Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards is a tri-annual awards programme currently in its third edition, with the first held
in 2011 and the second held in 2014. The hotel is proud to be the reigning winner, having bagged the prestigious award for the 5-Star Hotel Category for the third consecutive time, since its inception.

The objective of the awards programme is to identify, recognise and reward establishments and individuals who have strived to promote Kuala Lumpur as a tourist destination. The awards also acts to benchmark the highest industry standards of excellence for products and services that have consistently been put into practice.
Guests of honour who attended the awards ceremony last night include the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Federal Territories, YB. Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Datuk Seri Hj. Mhd Amin Nordin Bin Abd Aziz and Chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards 2017 Tan Sri Dr. Ong Hong Peng.
The judging criteria for the 5-Star Accommodation Category was based 95% on the judges and 5% on an online poll voting by the public. Winning this prestigious award is a great honour as it recognizes that the hotel has achieved the highest level of excellence and has stood out in delivering unique services and outstanding hospitality to its guests.
