Carousel Welcomes Japanese Guest Chefs for Taste of Japan Promotion (4 to 13 May)

April 7, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Feast on the exquisite flavours of Japanese cuisine at award-winning buffet restaurant, Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts, from 4 to 13 May 2017. Two distinguished Japanese guest chefs from the Royal Park Hotel Japan will be in Singapore to whip up a feast. The joint promotion is a tie-up between the two hotels, which are both members of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Lifestyle Collection.

Makoto Nishikawa, Sous Chef of Genjikoh, Royal Park Hotel, and Takeshi Yamada, Sous Chef of Shikitei, Yokohama Royal Park Hotel, will be presenting more than 110 dishes on the buffet counters during the promotion period, including their signatures, Takenoko Konakatsuo Ni (Stewed Bamboo Shoot with Shaved Dried Bonito), Chikuzen Ni (Country-styled Stewed Vegetables) and Mekajiki no Kuwayaki (Broiled Marinated Swordfish).

Chef Nishikawa brings with him three decades of culinary experience. He first entered the industry in 1987 and has served as the Japanese Chef of the Embassy of Japan in the United Kingdom for six years before joining Royal Park Hotel’s Genjikoh in 1991. Chef Takeshi Yamada, from Tokyo, specialised in Japanese cuisine for his studies before joining Yokohama Royal Park Hotel’s Shiki-tei. With more than two decades of experience in the culinary industry since 1994, he is skilled in both restaurant and banquet food preparations. Chef Yamada also brings with him a wealth of international experience, having served as both the Japanese Chef of the Embassy of Japan in France and in Czech Republic.

In addition to the extensive buffet spread, guests can also look forward to a tuna cutting ceremony that will take place on the first day of the promotion. For many, it will be an eye-opening experience to witness the art of Japanese tuna cutting, a skill which requires years of practice to acquire.

The Taste of Japan dinner promotion is available from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at $86++ for adults and $52++ for children. For online reservations, visit www.carouselbuffet.com.sg. For more enquiries, contact Carousel at 6589 7799 or email [email protected]. All prices are subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government taxes.
