RM 40,000 Raised From Wear It Pink Charity Auction Dinner!

QUILL CITY MALL, a vibrant lifestyle shopping destination along Jalan Sultan Ismail Kuala Lumpur, hosted the Wear It Pink Charity Auction Dinner to raise fund for the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA). This noble effort had support from the mall’s tenants; Red Lobster, Dunkin’ Donuts and JuiceWorks to be make it a success and led to the collection of RM 40,000.00 from the auction of 28 Jellycat soft toys.

The items on auction were Jellycat bunny soft toys styled and decorated by 28 international finalists from the Miss Cosmopolitan World 2016 as part of Quill City Mall’s Corporate Social Responsibility activity held in HappiKiddo, Quill City Mall on 27 September 2016.
The charity auction were attended by Dato’ Michael Ong, Executive Director of Quill Group of Companies, Puan Sri Datin Seri Dato’ Akmal Abdul Salam, Patron of Breast Cancer Welfare Association, Ms. Siew Mei Quin Treasurer of Breast Cancer Welfare Association and invited guests and media partners.

“Breast Cancer is the second most common killer cancer in the world, mainly due to a lack of awareness or insufficient funds to treat the cancer. In conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, Quill City Mall took this opportunity to raise fund for the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) to show support towards BCWA as the need for Breast Cancer awareness increases”, said Dato’ Ar. Michael Ong, Executive Director of Quill Group of Companies.

The evening was off to a sweet start with delightful donuts iced with pink ribbon offered by Dunkin’ Donuts, thirst quenching pink watermelon drink from JuiceWorks to refresh the guests, a sumptuous dinner at Red Lobster and the charity auction being the highlight of the evening. The Wear It Pink charity dinner has a few heart stopping moments when some of the generous bidders trying to outbid each other to win their preferred Jellycat bunnies.  The 28 Jellycat soft toys were then presented to the successful bidders in adorable custom made pink boxes. A total of RM40,000 was successfully raised and a mock cheque was presented to Puan Sri Datin Seri Dato’ Akmal Abdul Salam by Dato’ Michael Ong at the end of the evening.

‘’The fund raised will be used to improve the quality of life for women diagnosed with breast cancer and prevent pre-matured deaths due to breast cancer. We would like to thank Quill City Mall for their kindness in arranging for this auction to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Welfare Association” said Ms. Siew Mei Quin, Treasurer of Breast Cancer Welfare Association.
