Shangri-La International Festival of Gastronomy Returns Bigger and Brighter With World-Famous Chef at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong

September 10, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

The acclaimed Shangri-La International Festival of Gastronomy will return for the second year with an illustrious lineup of celebrated chefs at 11 Shangri-La hotels from 25 October to 1 November 2016.

The 12 chefs – three of whom have restaurants listed in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants – hold a total of 20 Michelin stars between them and will headline Shangri-La’s culinary event, which will be launched simultaneously at 11 of the group’s hotels in 10 cities: Beijing, Hong Kong, Jakarta, London, Manila, Paris, Taipei, Tokyo, Shanghai and Singapore.

The gastronomy festival, co-sponsored by evian and BADOIT, will spotlight the chefs’ remarkable talents and techniques as they elevate the guests’ dining experiences through culinary artistry and excellence.  Details about the chefs and prices can be viewed at www.shangrilalovesfood.com.

Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong is very proud to have the world-famous three Michelin-starred chef Frédéric Anton headlining the hotel’s Shangri-La Festival of Gastronomy 2016.

Chef Anton from the three Michelin-starred Le Pré Catelan makes his first Hong Kong appearance at Restaurant Petrus.  Chef Anton began his culinary career in 1983 and worked alongside many top chefs until he became the head chef at Joël Robuchon in 1996.

Since 1997, he has been chef at the restaurant in Bois de Boulogne, France that occupies a white-washed pavilion dating back to the time of Napoléon III.  Chef Anton earned a second Michelin star for the restaurant in two years’ time; later on, he garnered the ultimate honour of three Michelin stars in 2007.

By contrast, Chef Anton’s dishes resemble contemporary masterpieces that are interpretations of classic dishes and reflect the best use of ingredients.  He excels at creating sensations and flavours that please the guest’s palate.  From the first bite, one can appreciate all the richness and generosity of his cuisine.

The hotel’s award-winning master sommelier, Yohann Jousselin, will pair Chef Anton’s menus with the finest wines from the restaurant’s acclaimed premium cellar of over 12,000 bottles.

Between 25 and 29 October 2016, Chef Anton will share his passion for haute cuisine with  local gourmands through a number of curated events:

25 October 2016 – A splendid evening with Chateau Lafite Rothschild wine dinner
– HK$3,280 per person
