M bar at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong Curates New Experiences

September 30, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

The new team at M bar are introducing guests to rare, small batch spirits sourced from around the world, liqueurs handcrafted in-house, re-imagined classic cocktails, and cuisine by Chef Pierre Gagnaire.

“Our approach to our new bar selections sets the mood for M bar moving forward – sophisticated enjoyment of the finest creations,” said Agung  Parbowo, Beverage Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. “We have created experiences for guests who enjoy our bar atmosphere as it was intended, for a respite. I am proud to showcase our unique selections, each with a story, curated to only the finest tastes, and without comparison in Hong Kong.”

Tempting the palates of drink connoisseurs, M Bar offers several of the world’s rarest spirits and cocktails. The spirit menu spans classic flavours to daring tastes best exemplified by the highly sought after Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve Kentucky Bourbon, US, to Anty Gin from Cambridge, UK, generating a sensation unlike any other spirit.

Prabowo also created an “East Meets West” cocktail menu, paying homage to the classics while celebrating an inspired new wave of mixology that incorporates house-made infusions, each adding a twist from the Orient. Highlights include The Union cocktail’s small batch Havana Club Union Rum paired with effervescent Tonka beans, and house made bitters sourced from local dry fruits, as well as Rock and Rye, inspired by the iconic Whiskey Sour. By blending sweetness with strength, this cocktail combines Bulleit Rye Whiskey with a homemade liqueur of honey and fresh peaches along with soaked and smashed salty plum, a local delicacy.

In addition, M bar curated its high quality wine and champagne menu providing a taste for every guest but only including the vintages worth tasting. M Bar Manager Patty Sze sought to balance regional representation with delicious variety, some from small, organic wine houses, and all available by the glass and bottle.

“Guided by our enthusiastic and professional team, our goal is to anticipate the wants of our guests and provide them with impeccable selections without overwhelming them,” said Sze. “Our bottles represent the definitive old world meets new world flavours where I am delighted to bring some newly refined and undiscovered vintages to Hong Kong’s sophisticated drinking scene.”

M Bar’s new light food menu features dishes created by legendary Chef Gagnaire, bringing guests a selection of seasonal delicacies perfectly executed by the two Michelin star team. These additions are exclusively available at M bar and are perfect for sharing over conversations while admiring the views of Victoria Harbour and beyond.

M bar is open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday and Public Holidays from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Lunch is served Monday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Dinner is served daily from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
