SELAYANG STARCITY UNVEILS LATEST SHOPPING MALL RETAIL CONCEPT

Leadmont Development Sdn. Bhd. recently unveiled itsplan for Selayang StarCity Mall, Selayang’s first integrated retail, leisure and entertainment destination – a one-stop shopping mall. Gearing up for the soft opening of the mall targeted towards the second half of 2016, a signing ceremony was recently held at the Holiday Villa, Subang Jaya with its main anchor tenants, mini anchor tenants and general tenants to signify their partnership in the forging of one of the largest retail mix developments in the Selayang district of Northern Kuala Lumpur along Jalan Ipoh. The signing ceremony was graced by Mr Mark K. S. Tung, Chief Executive Officer of Leadmont Development, Ms. T. P. Phuan, Group General Manager of Finance and Investor Relations of Leadmont

Development and Mr. Y. L. Lum, General Manager of Investment Properties Division of Leadmont Development, as well as other distinguished guests, main partners, business associates and members of the media. Developed by Sierra Delima Development Sdn. Bhd. (a subsidiary of Leadmont Development Sdn. Bhd.), Selayang StarCity Mall has a Gross Development Value (GDV) of approximately RM400 million, part of the RM1.6 billion total GDV of Selayang StarCity.

The mall stands at seven storeys high with four levels of retail space spanning a net lettable area (NLA) of approximately 550,000 square feet and four carpark levels, offering 1,800 parking bays in its basement and elevated carpark. When fully tenanted, Selayang StarCity Mall will house over 230 shops, catering to all the needs of the residents in Selayang. The mall is also supported by designer suites and a 4-star rated serviced suites managed by Holiday Villa. At the time of this press conference, the construction of the mall is currently underway at the 7-acre integrated development of Selayang StarCity.

In his presentation, Mr. Lum shared that Selayang StarCity Mall is positioned as a one-stop mall within the vicinity of Selayang and its neighbouring districts with one of the main goals to be the game-changer through making an all-in-one vibrant lifestyle hub possible. Hence, the mall offerings and design also suit the customers’ demographics ranging from middle class families and individuals to the mass market.

“We will be introducing a number of new retail concepts and we are very pleased that one ofthe leading Japanese supermarket chain, Pacific Departmental Store and Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) have chosen to come on board as the mall’s anchor tenants,” said Mr. Lum.
The Japanese supermarket chain will occupy one floor of approximately 53,000 square feet, and is set to provide a better lifestyle shopping experience for all customers whereby Pacific Departmental Store will occupy approximately 80,000 square feet spread across two floors, being the first store in Klang Valley offering an extensive range of brands from apparels to household items and of course GSC, one of the leading cinema operators in the country, is proud to host a 10-screen Cineplex with a capacity to house approximately 1500 seats in Selayang StarCity Mall.

To date, Selayang StarCity Mall has reached 30% of the retail construction and secured 82% of retail space and the mall is scheduled towards its opening in the second half of 2016. The much-awaited shopping mall is set to attract more than 600,000 residents with a 15 minutes’ drive catchment area.
Confirmed mini anchors of the mall include Celebrity Fitness, Kaison Home, K-Max Karaoke, Mr D.I.Y., Original Classic, Sports Direct.com, and Taimal. On top of that, consumers will also find tenants such as Eu Yan Sang & Zun Kitchenette, Fish & Co, Focus Point, Gintell,Milano Eyes Fashion, Poh Kong, Sakae Sushi, Subway, Sushi King and Texas Chicken.
