In conjunction of 75th Anniversary celebration of Ho Yan Hor, we had official launched our Ho Yan Hor Museum (HYHM), located at Old Town Ipoh last Saturday. The museum was the original home to the founder Dr Ho Kai Cheong and his family, and the starting point of this tea. Today, it has been converted into a museum, which allows visitors to walk through the history of Ipoh from the 1940s onwards, and how Ho Yan Hor from 1 brand, is now a global pharmaceutical company, renamed Hovid.
The event was a fun-filled ceremony, where the opening ceremony was officiated by YB Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon and Jeff Chin (陈浩然) , My FM DJ was present to host the official launching, and the special parade around Old Town Ipoh in celebration of the event. The special parade highlights the heritage of Ho Yan Hor with a display of antique vintage cars, trishaws, marching band, stilt walkers and many other exciting displays. The event even brought back ‘Herbal Tea ladies’, which was a big thing during the 1950s & 1960s, who promoted the herbal tea drinks to customers. The celebration continued with free-flow Ho Yan Hor tea to the general public, and also the giving-away of 75 prizes via exciting games.
