MANDARIN ORIENTAL, HONG KONG TO OFFER TRADITIONAL CAKES, PASTRIES AND COFFEE FROM RENOWNED VIENNESE COFFEE HOUSE INSTITUTIONS

April 12, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is delighted to welcome Sous Chef Patissier Johannes Warmuth from Café Central, Mr. Kay Froehlich, Manager at Café Central, and Barista Mr. Wolfgang Eisler from Julius Meinl for their first visit to Hong Kong from April 21 to May 1, 2016, bringing with them traditional, elegant, and mouth-watering Viennese flavours. The cakes and coffees remain on the menu until June 20, 2016.

Chef Johannes will offer guests at Clipper Lounge and Café Causette a variety of home-made pastries and cakes including Wiener Apfelstrudel, Mohr im Hemd, Esterházy cake, the famed Sachertorte, and Café Central Gâteau. To complement the experience, Barista Wolfgang will serve guests traditional Viennese coffee styles including Kleiner Brauner, Wiener Melange and Franziskaner at HKD68* each, and Mozart Café at HKD128* while Mr. Froehlich will engage guests on the art of enjoying such coffee with cakes. Café Central and Julius Meinl each offer over 150 years of Viennese coffee house culture, an experience akin to poetry with a unique philosophy of enjoying cakes and coffees in the style of historic literati and socialites through the ages.

Cakes and pastries served as part of Afternoon Tea at Clipper Lounge will be available daily at HKD288* for one guest and HKD498* for two guests from April 21 until June 20, 2016. In addition, cakes by the slice and desserts will also be available at Clipper Lounge and Café Causette. Individual slices and whole cakes including Sachertorte will be on sale at The Mandarin Cake Shop during this period with prices ranging from HKD48* for slices and HKD888* for whole 3lb cakes.

To reserve a table, please telephone +852 2825 4000 or e-mail [email protected]. * Prices exclude 10% service charge.
