‘WHAT SAUVIGNON BLANC IS ALL ABOUT’ NEW DINING + DRINKING PERSPECTIVES

February 29, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

The palate awakens to new sensations. Another taste adventure awaits wine buffs and foodies on Thursday, March 03, 2016, at The Glaz Bar and The Reflexions, both at Plaza Athénée Bangkok, A Royal Méridien Hotel.

The March edition of Wine + Dine New Perspectives exclusively introduces wine lovers to the wines of Framingham, Marlborough, New Zealand, which Wine Masters have variously described as “New Zealand’s finest Riesling producer”, “New Zealand’s best sweet wine maker” and simply, “What Sauvignon Blanc is all about!”.

After tasting the wines together with signature canapes at chic and convivial The Glaz Bar, guests then have the chance to enjoy them paired with the French modern style cuisine they inspire in The Reflexions’ team of exceptional chefs led by one of the major talents currently plying his art and craft on the Bangkok fine dining scene, the Briton Mark Ian Jones.

A boutique winery established in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley in 1994, the key to Framingham’s individuality is combining small batches of wine from different parts of the vineyard to build depth of flavour and texture. Strictly limited quantities allow it to take risks and follow its heart.

As for the sumptuous 03 -course dinner, guests may choose to accompany it with a white – Framingham Sauvignon Blanc 2014 – or a red – Framingham Pinot Noir 2013. One bottle will be served complimentarily to two paying diners who also have a choice for each course, including:

Appetiser: Ceviche of Hokkaido scallop, pomelo, coriander and lotus root OR veloute of roasted capsicum and plum tomato, Tortellini of goat’s cheese and basil oil.

Main course: Poached fillet of oak smoke haddock, with slow cooked organic egg, cream leek, pomme puree and caviar and tarragon beurre blanc OR Sous vide lamb rump, roasted onion purée, fricassee of puy lentils, Savoy cabbage and port wine jus.

Dessert: Glazed lemon tart with raspberry sorbet OR Granny Smith apple parfait with roasted almond crumble and blackberry sorbet.

The wine tasting begins at 18:00 hrs with dinner served from 19:30 hrs.

The modest tariff of THB 1, 800++ per person includes the wine tasting and 03-course dinner with a complimentary 01 bottle of wine for 02 paying guests.

Guests with special dietary requirements are requested to kindly contact the restaurant manager in advance.
