One World Hotel Petaling Jaya recently hosted the sixth edition of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. The Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin presented Korda a trophy and the winner’s cheque of US$300,000 (approximately RM1.24 million). LPGA golf tournament was held from October 8 – 11, 2015 with 75 of the world’s best female golfers competed in the 72 hole no-cut event.

Some of the top ranking international stars who stayed with us during the tournament include defending champion, Shanshan Feng, Lexi Thompson, Inbee Park, Michelle Wie, Stacy Lewis, Paula Creamer, Lydia Ko , Mika Miyazato, Pornanong Phatlum, Cheyenne Woods and Minjee Lee to name a few.

Continuing under the ‘Women with Drive’ campaign, 75 of the best golfers in the world, including nine out of the top 10, and the leading 63 players of the top 66 players on the official LPGA Money List contested for the total prize purse of USD2 million. As one of the longest-running women’s professional sports associations in the world, Sime Darby in association with Cancer Research Malaysia, the charity partner for the tournament as well as other event organisers will continue to develop this annual event into one of the most prestigious ladies golf events in the Asia-Pacific region. The event was the first of five straight in Asia, followed by LPGA Hana Bank Championship in South Korea, Taiwan, China and Japan.

Mr Ho Hoy Sum, General Manager of One World Hotel said, “For six consecutive years we have been the official hotel for the Sime Darby LPGA Tournament and I must say we are truly honoured to be part of this world-class event again. I am very delighted to know that the players enjoyed their stay here and overwhelmed by the warm hospitality and friendly team that reflects our local culture. With our experiences hosting these international star players for several years, we will continue to ensure that our service level is above the rest and looking forward to hosting other international sporting events in the near future.”

“Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) is just a stone’s throw away from the hotel. It’s convenient for these world-class players to travel back and forth from the club. It also gave us an opportunity to showcase our newly refurbished contemporary guestrooms and suites equipped with a complete range of upgraded amenities, facilities and services,” commented Mr Ho Hoy Sum.
