CHEF JOSÉ LAZCARRO TO BRING MEXICAN FLAVOURS TO ISLAND SHANGRI-LA, HONG KONG

September 3, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

As part of the Consulate General of Mexico’s anniversary celebration of independence throughout September, Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong has invited the rising star of modern Mexican cuisine, Chef José Lazcarro, to showcase his culinary skills and bring authentic Mexican flavours to Lobster Bar and Grill and cafe TOO from 8 to 30 September 2015.

After Chef Lazcarro’s first visit to Asia last year to successfully bring the Mexican gastronomy to Seoul, he marked Hong Kong as his next destination and will bestow local diners with a slew of Mexican flavours that will tantalise the taste buds. During the promotion, a wide selection of traditional Mexican fare will be available as a la carte options at Lobster Bar and Grill or as a welcome addition at the cafe TOO buffet spread.  These delectable exotic dishes include Mexican Tuna Tostadas; Chilpachole de Jaiba – Spiced crab and shrimp soup with chili, epazote and bay leaves; Mexican Pork With Nut Sauce; Mole Poblano – Chicken breast and Mexican rice, and many more.  Please refer to the appendix for the menu.

Chef Lazcarro is the executive chef of the restaurant at the Autonomous University of the State of Puebla, which is a place in Mexico that is filled with complex and rich gastronomies.  He has gained ample of culinary knowledge by working as commis chef for the Alain Ducasse group in Paris.  In 2015, Chef Lazcarro acted as guest chef at Tickets Restaurant in Barcelona, which is honoured as one of the best 50 restaurants in the world; as guest chef at Escola de Patisseria del Gremio de Barcelona as well as consultant chef for the Tragaluz Group in Barcelona.
Chef Lazcarro also represented Mexican cuisine at the 2013 World Gastronomy Summit in Peru.  He has won several national and international awards, including first prize at the Molecular Cuisine Contest of the Americas University in Puebla
