CELEBRATING THAILAND’S RICH FLAVOURS AT THE LOUNGE

July 12, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong is pleased to introduce Chef Utid Hongthong and Chef Tosporn Suwannagate from JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok, who will be at The Lounge to deliver authentic Thai cuisine from now to 19 July 2015. Guests may enjoy the rich culinary flavours from Thailand through unique dishes from the lunch and supper buffets.

Balance, variety, texture and colour are important aspects of Thai cuisine, with strong emphasis on aromatic flavours using herbs and spices. Through these culinary principles, Chef Hongthong and Chef Suwannagate have created a selection of traditional dishes, which includes appetisers and salads; soups; hot entrees; noodle and rice; and desserts; that will certainly satisfy any gourmand’s appetite and senses.

Guests may look forward to an array of popular Thai dishes such as spicy prawn soup (Tom Yum Goong); spicy green papaya salad with seafood (Som Tam Thai); stir-fried pork with basil (Moo Pad Bai Krapow); stir-fried noodle with seafood, chicken or pork in tamarind sauce (Pad Thai); red prawn curry (Choo Chee Goong Yai); tapioca dumpling in coconut milk (Tab Tim Grob) and many more.

Bryson Rivera, the hotel’s star mixologist has specially prepared a variety of Thai-inspired cocktails and mocktails to complement an enticing meal such as the “Patpong Cooler” (HK$90 per glass), which features ingredients such as rosemary cordial, mango juice, Thai lime juice and ginger beer; as well as “Bangkok Lemonade” (HK$90 per glass), consisting of lemongrass, chamomile cordial, Thai lime juice and soda water.

With 11 years of culinary experience under his belt, Chef Suwannagate is currently the Chef de Partie at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok’s kitchen. Prior to his current position, he has also worked for other luxury hotel brands as well as Marriott properties such as Sathorn Vista By Marriott Bangkok, The Ritz Carlton New Orleans, USA and Courtyard By Marriott Bangkok. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Industry with major in Kitchen and Restaurant Management from Dusit Thani College. Chef Hongthong started his career with JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok as a Cook Helper in 2008 and steadily rose through the ranks to his present position as Demi Chef Cold Kitchen. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from Rajabaht Mahasarakham University.

The Thai promotional buffet is available during lunch from 12 noon to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday and priced at HK$330 per adult;  while the supper buffet is from 8pm to 11pm, Thursday to Saturday and priced at HK$418 per adult and HK$308 per child.
