FULFILL YOUR TOMATO DREAM AT THE LOUNGE & BAR THE RITZ-CARLTON, HONG KONG

June 20, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

As the tomato season goes into full swing, The Lounge & Bar joins hands with ecoFarm in unveiling the special-edition “Tomato Dream” as part of its all-you-can-eat Organic Salad Bar.  The edition features tomatoes in seven categories and 17 varieties, either bush or vine. Their seeds are sourced from the Peruvian Andes, where tomatoes originated.  These organic heirloom tomatoes will be in the spotlight alongside other fine seasonal organic vegetables. A team of talented chefs has also created delicious tomato delicacies from among different delectable combinations, from cold soups and hot dishes to desserts using tomatoes of different shapes, colors and sizes, ensuring guests stay cool and fresh amid the summer weather.

The seven categories featured are: brown tomatoes (Black Krim and Chocolate), with a tangy, rich and sweet taste; beautifully striped tomatoes (Tigerella), smooth and sweet; yellow tomatoes (Sun Gold) with an explosively sweet flavor; red tomatoes (Tumblers, Wolf Peach, Brandy Wine) resembling red fruit juices; ribbed tomatoes (Amana, Ox Heart, Marmande) characterized by their meaty, sweet yet tarty taste; cherry tomatoes (Santorini, San Marzano, Campari, Golden Sunrise, Cherry Roma), small yet with intense flavors and a high sugar content and low acidity; and Roma tomatoes (Roma and Amish Paste), with a thick texture and succulent taste.

Known to have a higher lycopene content, these colorful tomatoes are paired with a sundry spread of organic greens alongside an exquisite range of nutritious toppings and condiments at the Organic Salad Bar on a rotating basis. In addition, Executive Chef Peter Find and his team have also created ten different dishes including gazpacho with balsamic, Asian tabbouleh, semi oven-dried tomatoes, baked focaccia with tomato and mozzarella, tomato quiche, tomato risotto, stuffed tomato with zucchini and eggplant, tomato gelée and tomato sorbet—to be rotated during the “Tomato Dream” period.

Priced at HK$238+10% per guest, special-edition “Tomato Dream” is available from June 22–September 30, 2015. Price is inclusive of all-you-can-eat Organic Salad Bar, daily soup, chef’s specialty dish and dessert, and an additional glass of healthy drink. Available from 12 noon to 2pm daily, from Mondays to Thursdays, and from 12 noon to 1:45pm on Fridays. For reservations and inquiries, please contact Restaurant Reservations at (852) 2263 2270 or email [email protected].
