As the holy month approaches with love and togetherness at its very core, and the anticipation of gathering with friends and family, strengthening bonds and celebrating togetherness grows strong, Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, Johor Bahru takes the pleasure of dining, gathering and celebrating to a whole new level by artfully blending Berjaya Hotels & Resorts’ THE CHEFS (Cuisine, Hospitality Experience & Food Showcase) programme for a special and heart-warming occasion unlike any other.

Besides featuring five of the hotel’s main culinary aces forming an eclectic mix of illustrious expertise to create exclusive gastronomic experiences at the hotel, ‘Bazaar Kampung With THE CHEFS’ depicts a wholesome lifestyle choice with well-crafted elements representing the values and meaning of the season, while illustrating the excellent services and warm hospitality the hotels stands for at its fusion dining outlet, Salt ‘n” Pepper Café Restaurant.

All set to delight guests looking to gather and celebrate, Executive Chef, Basri Saad, together with his talented team – Chef Khairuddin Ahmad (Malay Cuisine), Chef Wong Chee Foong (Chinese Cuisine), Chef Junaidee Mohamad (Western), and Chef Azim Mahmud (Pastry) have skillfully put together a sumptuous buffet spread with over 200 dishes, promising an exceptional dining experience for all.

“It is of utmost importance that our guests are able to savour their mealtimes and enjoy themselves in absolute confidence and complete satisfaction at our hotel. As it is always the experience that counts, ‘Bazaar Kampung with THE CHEFS’ heightens the entire dining experience for guests as a whole and makes dining and get-togethers here exceptional,” said Chef Basri.

While traditional elements are retained in the preparation of dishes, guest can also find unique inventive dishes like Gulai Kawah, Ayam Masak Ros, and Percik Mutton among many other must-try traditional Malay dishes from the main buffet counter.

There is also a great selection of Malaysian hawker stall favourites, such as Nasi Ambeng, Roti Canai, Murtabak, Chicken Shawarma, Laksa Penang, and otak-otak just to name a few. Those looking for lighter and healthier options can toss up their own Ulam-Ulam Kampung (Kampung Greens), or pick from a variety of ready-made salads on offer.

Guests can also make their evening extra sweet with a variety of delicious desserts all beautifully plated at the dessert counter. Choose from Date Cake, Pisang Goreng Cheese, Durian Goreng, Cendol, Agar-agar Santan, Tapai and Crème Brulee, a selection of Malay Kuih and many other items that are readily available to tempt.

As part of the ‘Baazar Kampung with THE CHEFS’ programme, Salt ‘n” pepper Café Restaurant’s  dinner buffet features signature dishes from the five chefs as below:

Chef Basri – Sup Tulang Berserai

Chef Khairuddin – Nasi Tomato  and Mee Rebus

Chef Junaidee – Roasted Whole Lamb Leg

Chef Wong – Dim Sum

Chef Azim – Durian Goreng

“We are delighted to share our trademark dishes and bring out the best flavours to be savoured by all. As the five of us come from different backgrounds and have different specialty skills, guests can look forward to a fusion of distinct flavours, each unique in its own way,” Chef Basri added.

In addition to the array of fresh offerings at the salad bar, cold dishes, soups and appetisers, hot dishes as well as sweet dessert treats, different culinary specials will be prepared for guests on the spot each night at the restaurant’s Live Cooking Stations. Get up-close with the hotel’s culinary personalities and watch first-hand as they serve you their signature hot dishes such as Spaghetti Goreng Mamak, Penang Char Kuew Teow, Mee Hoon Sup Utara, and Roti Canai with Curry Potatoes.

Zahar also shared that Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, Johor Bahru for the third consecutive year is spreading the joy of the holy month by distributing Bubur Lambuk to the Stulang Laut community. The event is jointly organized with Surau An-Nur, Stulang Laut. This simple yet heart-warming local dish Bubur Lambuk is also featured as part of the buffet spread.

“‘Bazaar Kampung with THE CHEFS’ showcases the talent and passion of our chefs towards food and cooking. It also embraces the values and culture of the upcoming holy month where the emphasis is on togetherness. Our chefs play a role in promoting cross cultural understandings and unity amidst diversity through different types of food,” added Abel Nelson Nang, the Group Director for Corporate Marketing & Communications at Berjaya Hotels & Resorts.

Also featuring live Ghazal music performances nightly, the ‘Bazaar Kampung with THE CHEFS’ promotion at Salt ‘n” Pepper Café Restaurant is available throughout the holy month of Ramadan from 18 June till 16 July 2015 from 6.30pm to 10.30pm and is priced at RM99 nett per adult and RM50 nett for children aged 5 – 12 years. Early Bird Vouchers are also on sale at RM80 nett per adult and RM40 nett for children aged 5 – 12 years from now until 8 June 2015.
