MARINI’S ON 57 TO RELEASE SUNSET HOURS VOL. TWO ALBUM COMPILED BY TWO DEEJAYS

May 26, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

Malaysia’s leading restaurant, bar and lounge, Marini’s on 57 will be releasing their follow up to last year’s chill out house music compilation in conjunction with its bar’s third anniversary, titled Sunset Hours Vol. Two, compiled by Chris Coco and Steve Miller, who is also known as Afterlife. This will be the brand’s second album release in a year, which will be distributed globally and will feature an original track called “Sunset Hours (Marini’s Remix)”.

Chris Coco has been working as a DJ since the acid house explosion of the late 80s.
He has been the Editor of DJ Magazine where he coined the term ‘Chill Out House’ for the genre, worked for BBC Radio 1 on the after hours show, The Blue Room and has made artist albums for Warp and Distinctive Records.

Besides Marini’s on 57, he has made compilations for Playboy, Ministry of Sound, EMI Classical and Trojan Records. His music has also appeared on many other compilations such as Cafe Del Mar and Hotel Costes. His music has also been featured in several TV series like Sex and the City, Nip Tuck and House.

His radio show, Melodica, grew from its online home on Mixcloud to include broadcasts in cities from Melbourne to Istanbul to Chicago. Even the UK daily, The Guardian, called it “the hazy, lazy sound of the summer”.

With a monthly residency at the noted East London dinner dance Disappearing Dining Club; plus regular gigs at big festivals like Bestival, Glastonbury and Stop Making Sense and at cool venues like The Bedroom Bar and The Gowlett in London, Big Chill Bar in Bristol and international shows from Space in Ibiza to KuDeTa in Bali, Chris is a busy live DJ.

Chris has collaborated with Steve Miller on the album. Steve Miller is a master producer of quality chill out music and has had more tracks than anyone else on the Café Del Mar album series and his music features on over 500 other compilations.

Steve has said that chill out is an open canvas, it can be any tempo, any fusion and it’s the least conservative of modern styles. He has worked with artists like K-Klass, Jose Padilla, Chris Coco, Lenny Ibizarre, Cathy Battistessa, Matt Blank and numerous others.

Chris Coco will be in Kuala Lumpur on 9 June 2015 for the launch of the album in celebration of its Bar’s Sunset Hours third anniversary and will be on the decks from 7.00pm onwards. Advanced booking is highly recommended for this launch.
