HOTEL JEN PENANG UNVEILS NEW MENU AT THE ISLANDER

April 20, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

Hotel Jen Penang is proud to announce its new delectable a la carte menu at The Islander. Compared to previous menu, almost 80% of the food is still maintained and with constant innovation and the pursuit of excellence, the revelation of this new menu will continue to showcase authentic local street food, famed international delicacies and delightful desserts. The restaurant will also introduce chef’s signature dishes, bits and pieces as well as light bites on this new menu.

The recipes are followed meticulously to recreate the simple yet delicious, wholesome dishes that propelled The Islander’s popularity in Penang. Just like looking forward to a wonderful and exciting trip, the eagerness for the new menu can no longer be constrained. The release of the new menu will commence by mid of April 2015.
Herewith, are some of the highlights of the new menu.Arugula Salad (芝麻菜沙拉) is a salad with pungent, sharp and bitter taste. It goes well with honey sesame dressing which gives the salad a sweet and vinegary taste.
Bruschetta (意式特色烤面包) actually means gathering, so in our concept it is a quick snack for those who want a fast bite before a good dinner. The crisp and lightly charred rye bread with yellow and red cherry tomatoes and olive oil is finished with a sprinkling of basil and cracked pepper.
Grilled Burger with Vegetarian Patty (烤汉堡) is made from couscous and potatoes seasoned with special seasoning. Vegetarian and health conscious will love this burger that is actually low fat, less calories and healthy.
Lamb Osso Buco (意式烩羊膝) is Milanese specialty cross-cut veal shanks (400gm) braised with vegetables, balsamic vinegar and broth. It is usually best with Polenta but we are serving it with homemade creamy Mashed Potato.
Chicken Rosmarino (迷迭香鸡肉) is spring chicken marinated with rosemary oil and served with balsamic pepper jus. Chicken and balsamic vinegar is the perfect combination because the vinegar flavours suits the method in making sauces and is perfect as marinade for a chicken dish.
Baked Trapia ~ Sustainably-sourced Fish (焙烤 Trapia — 环保来源鱼品)
A particular fish is sustainable if it comes from a fishery using practices that can maintained its produce indefinitely and which is why the fish was chosen from a local farmed fish. This dish is served with fresh herbs, tomato coulis, olives and capers that will give the twist to soupy flavours and goes perfectly well with farmed fish.
Pan fried Stuff Aubergine (热炒鱼香茄饼) is a stunning dish full of different flavours. This dish comes with cheese and Provencal herbs, baked slowly in an oven and served with smoked tomato sauce. Vegetarian lovers would not want to miss it.
Tiramisu Pancake (提拉米苏薄饼) is a famous Italian dessert we are preparing differently using sponge pancake, espresso, mascarpone, egg and cream with a twist of espresso butterscotch sauce.
Jen’s Signature (Jen’s 招牌菜) is a traditional mud pie usually made with cake but for a ‘Jen’ region we are doing it specially with ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauce.
The Islander is open seven days a week from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. For reservations or more information, please call (604) 2622 622 extension 8010.
