January 2, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

The Merchant Live at The Armada Hotel Petaling Jayaopened to pulsating beats, free flowing cocktails and an exclusive VIP guest and media liston Wednesday, 17 December 2014. Guests were welcomed by General Manager of TheArmada Hotel, Mr Hoon Tai Chee and his team at the entrance that was in frenzy with thepresence of a pop up photobooth as guests posed and the cameras flashed. Receivingtheir instant photos a minute later, guests sealed their memories of #themerchantlive opening.

As part of its 2015 plans to up the ante on its offerings, The Merchant Live is one of TheArmada Hotel’s concepts to create a unique club where design, music and guests form anew dimension of inspiration with quality live entertainment taking centre stage. The strikingneon tunnel entrance that had some guests reminiscing the era of Studio 54, opened up toa capacity of 200. Over 1000 LEDs offering inter-changing backlit colours is the core themeat The Merchant Live. Acoustic panelled walls and state-of-the-art sound system by TW Audio pumped out top notch aural pleasure courtesy of DJ Turnbull who helmed the decksby spinning some of the biggest retro classics and one hit wonders from the 80’s and 90’s.

One of Malaysia’s young local talents, live band Applebees came on stage for four setskeeping guests dancing till the wee hours with their energetic sets. Some guests escaped into the three private suites equipped with touch screen karaoke entertainment (with up to 30 pax capacity) themed red, gold and silver respectively where they revelled in plush and roomy comfort, and sung their hearts out in style and privacy. Guests also took the opportunity to test their aiming skills with the Phoenix Darts

Machine available in each suite while the biggest suite even had it’s very own American Pool Table.
A generously long list of classic cocktails and a lip-smacking menu kept flowing from the sleek illuminated island bar and the kitchen kept guests wanting more of the otak otak on toast and the chicken chimichangas! The entire evening set the scene for a perfect private party, a corporate get together or a celebration that would simply be hassle free.

Officially launching 2nd quarter 2015, The Merchant Live is poised to turn things up a notch in the quiet hub of PJ. Currently The Merchant Live is an extension of the existing Merchant Pub which after 17 years of being one of PJ’s long standing neighbourhood jaunt, will be closing its doors in mid January 2015 for a refurbishment and will open it’s doors again as The Merchant Bar complementing the more upbeat The Merchant Live. Showcasing a more subdued vibe of sultry jazz twice a week, The Merchant Bar makes a great venue for quiet meetings and discussions.

Daily live performances at The Merchant Live start from 9.30pm onwards and there is no cover charge. The private suites are available for hire daily with various packages to choose from. Closed on Sundays.

Experience The Merchant Live at The Armada Petaling Jaya for yourselves by calling 603-7954 6888 or email [email protected] to find out more about the packages on offer.
