TREE BAR, PENANG: Not just a tree, it’s a bar.

November 19, 2014 By StrawberrY Gal - Food News, Uncategorized Leave a Comment

G Hotel continues to trend set the hospitality sector with their new hip hangout spot, Tree Bar. Opened on the 19th June 2014, this bar is one of the coolest hangout spot in Penang serving the best beers and bites in town. This is a wonderful addition to the hotel’s portfolio of food and beverage outlets in the hotel.

Aptly deemed the latest ‘in’ hangout spot, it is suitable be it for work or play. This bar will feature a selection of beverages and bites that goes easy on your wallet with happy hours featuring a buy one free two promotions. It doesn’t stop there. The happy hour continues on after 9.30pm with a promotion of buy one free one, perfect to let loose after a hard day’s work.
Located at the al fresco area of G Hotel, Tree Bar is presented by interplay of innovation and tradition. The space offers comfortable bar top seating and also conventional dining tables offering the aesthetics of style and comfort. For those who would like to feel more out in the open, they can sit out at the al fresco area while those who would like to chill in a cozier place or also just in case in rains, there is a shaded section. Patrons can sit back and unwind after a long day on a raised deck that comes with a stylish wooden bar in an open-air concept.  This includes a cooling ambience as it is situated under a tree, hence, the name. In addition to that, the party cum relaxing environment is exemplified by its upbeat but yet relaxing music and décor .The result is a place that is both unpretentious and stress releasing at the same time.

In fact, this tree that the Tree Bar is nestled under is derived from the species name “Albizia Saman” which is also known as the ‘rain tree’. Its leaves folds during the rainy weather and in the evening, hence the name that is known to the locals – “five o’clock” tree (“Pukul Lima” in Bahasa Malaysia). Not wanting to ruin the atmosphere by cutting the 80 over years old tree down, G Hotel decided to make good use of the space around it and in turn, ‘killing two birds with one stone’ – providing for guests while saving the environment.

Among the interesting menu that is introduced are international beers, wines, traditional cocktails and also Tree Bar specialty cocktails that are personally curated by in-house mixologists accompanied by bites that will satisfy that hunger. The number one promotion is Buy 1 Free 2 draught beer such as Carlsberg, Asahi and Hoegaarden. This lasts until 9.30pm, after which it is Buy 1 Free 1. Another great promotion for Stella Artois, Lowenbrau and Hoegaarden, Buy 1 Free 1 all night long.
Apart from all the beers, introducing the new Absolut Tower where is absolutely chilled for absolute friends & colleagues! Absolut Vodka enthusiast will be spoiled with the flavours offered such as, Blush, Sex On The Beach, Light, Pandan-roska and Ginger-licious. One of the signature flavours is Ginger-licious where it’s mixed with Absolut Vodka, Ginger Ale, Lime Juice and fresh lime offering a mild taste of ginger with a zingy kick after lime.
As for cocktails, there are Long Island Iced Tea, Atlantic Breeze, Malaysian Dream, Rum Jungle and Blue Hawaiian. For a heavier taste, there are also more than 10 choices of single malt whiskeys and more than 15 types of liquors to unwind after a long day or even for that business talk. Meanwhile, as for those who prefer a non-alcoholic beverage, there are selections of soft drinks – Ginger Ale, Sparkling Green Apple Juice and Sparkling Red Grape Juice.

Those who love to munch while having a sip, there are new snacks starting from November such as Grilled Otak-Otak. Minced fish mousse with spicy local spices and coconut milk, wrapped in “nipah” leaf, this unique dish will delight your taste buds with the tangy taste. Also adding to the new menu are Crab Cake, Smoked Salmon Voluvents, Gyoza and Kueh Pie Tee.

Having trouble choosing either lamb, beef or chicken? Triple Mini is the perfect choice to fix your cravings with three mini burgers (lamb, beef and chicken) served with fries. The traditional Golden Chicken Wings were marinated with calamansi served with sweet chili dip, giving them a sour refreshing tinge. Perfect if you’re feeling puckish over a glass of beer.

At the same time, indulge in an authentic Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese all the way from Campania, Italy with 6 different sets, such as Sensation, Tuna Salad, Cold Chicken Slice, Spiedini, Caprese and Tasting Set. Buffalo Mozzarella is a mozzarella made from the milk of the domestic Italian water buffalo which provides higher levels of protein, fat and minerals than cow’s milk.

Newly added grill station at the side of the bar where you can create your own skewers with the selection of – squid, lamb, beef, chicken, prawn, sausages and 5 type of sauces to tantalize your taste buds. Adding on the excitement, once you have decided on your Skewers and Sauces, there will be a live cooking by our culinary expert at the grill station. You can also enjoy a free tasting set of Skewers + Sauces which consists of 5 sticks of skewers with variety of sauces when you purchase an Absolut Tower.

Open seven days a week, the bar begins service at 11am until 1am daily.
