TRUE RELIGION SPRING 2014 COLLECTION

April 22, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

TRUE RELIGION SPRING COLLECTION 2014 continues to be inspired by style, travel, rock and roll, and a love of the open road. This season, True Religion celebrates the sophisticated gypsy who is chic, confident, and adventurous. For women, this translates to softer washes that lend a lived-in feel and sportswear that is perfect for the word traveler that likes to mix and match pieces that she collects while on the go. Paisley, butterfly, and floral prints are the perfect foundation for her eclectic style. As for men, new Selvedge offerings in light blue and cream along with strong, military-inspired pieces are key this Spring.

NEW FOR WOMEN

OVERALLS

Perfectly on trend for the Spring season, overalls are being introduced for the first time at True Religion. Designed with a halter-top silhouette and flared bottoms, the denim staple comes in three variations: The Hilary in Spring View is a raw, dark indigo with yellow stitching; The Erin in Lost Paradise is a lighter wash with oversized patchwork; and The Molly in Music Note are shorts with a ticker stripe. This is one one-piece that you won’t want to miss!

TREATMENTS & WASHES

The season celebrates the bohemian spirit with treatments and washes that are inspired by vintage pieces. In general, the washes are much lighter through the use of sun bleaching and acid wash techniques. Even gray and black denim pieces have a purposefully faded look to them.

PRINTS

Look for standout prints to make a statement. The super skinny Abbey gets a makeover with a solarized Aztec print. The Chrissy is adorned with a paisley print in yellow or green for the young sophisticate. Finally, the bold blue-and-white Monarch butterfly print makes its way onto cut-off shorts for those flitting through warmer climates.

WHITE

Inspired by rock-and-roll? Then look no further than the Joey cut-off short with exposed hem detail that features silver stud ornamentation. Feeling adventurous? Pair it with the matching fitted embellished vest or, if not, opt for the classic jean jacket with silver button detail.

SPORTSWEAR

The bohemian nature of the collection is underscored by very minimal branding—floral gypsy tops in shades of pink and cream, super soft cotton tops, classic T-shirts, sleeveless Oxfords, plus military style jackets. This season, True Religion introduces a dress into the sportswear collection for the first time. The light, breezy frock features Aztec-inspired stitching and a loose silhouette.

NEW FOR MEN

COLORS & PRINTS

Take a bold step forward for Spring in new color ways and khaki camo prints. Pants and shorts come in shades of white, eggshell blue, and fiery orange. The single stitch horseshoe branding on the back pocket is discreet and more refined, making this a big step forward from a design perspective. Meanwhile the khaki camo print features a smaller pattern scale and is the updated neutral with the muted olive tone. Chambray details inside the waistband and under the pocket flaps lends itself to a very relaxed fit. The Geno short and pant also comes in the original camo design for those seeking a more traditional pattern.

UTILITY PANTS

The military-inspired look was a big inspiration for Spring 2014. Utility pants feature a cool True Religion “Army stamp” as well as vintage-looking patchwork. Also available in khaki!

SPORTSWEAR

The theme this season was the Peace Corps in the early ’70s, and the idea of American youth exploring distant lands. As is the case throughout the Spring collection, branding is significantly reduced for a more elevated look. Polo shirts are less graphic, acid wash denim shirts have a relaxed feel, and there are corduroy button-up shirts, nautical-inspired hoodies, and military jackets to round out the season.
