CONTEMPORARY INDIGENOUS ARTIST EXHIBITS IN G HOTEL. : SHAQ KOYOK TO EXHIBIT ARTWORKS.

April 9, 2014 By StrawberrY Gal - Event, Penang Leave a Comment

Art is a form of expressing oneself through painting, drawing and sculpturing. G Hotel is honoured to host well known contemporary indigenous artist, Shaq Koyok in presenting his works of art using acrylic and mixed media.

Born in a village called Kampung Pulau Kempas in Banting, Selangor, he started painting since five years old using oil pastels. Just as any artist, he used this growing talent to express his feelings about everything that revolves around him. His ability to capture emotions in portraiture through the subject’s expression brought him to numerous international exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Australia, America and throughout Malaysia. He also had his first children’s book published in 2013 entitled Tujal and the Wind, written by Stephen-John Curtis.

Shaq Koyok received an Honours Degree in Fine Arts at University Teknologi MARA. Ever since his graduation, he produced artworks that express his growing concern about the world and the aboriginals in Malaysia. Shaq is also a featured speaker at many workshops and events including the Malaysian Indigenous Day 2013. He has also been featured in many newspapers, magazine articles and television programs such as Channel NewsAsia.

His exhibition of artworks at G Hotel will be on from the 1 April till 30 June 2014 at G Art Gallery, Link Bridge at Level 1. In the meantime too, an official launch of the exhibition will be held on the 4 April 2014 at the same venue at 6pm-7.30pm with refreshments. Shaq will be present at the launch of his exhibition to showcase and explain in detail on the meaning of his artworks and also performed a 20 minute painting gimmick.  His art pieces are also available for sale. Those interested in his art pieces may approach the reception counter for inquiries.
